simpson6376
Hi All my name is Allan Simpson and have been making military models in whitemetal for 21 year for various model companies, I have been lurking for a long time now and now I would like some help with a new project. Please I would like some help Identifying the Truck My Great Grandfather drove in the Great War, I suspect its a Napier only because I believe he worked there pre war! Any Info or pics of the truck without all the troops hanging off it would be nice, big want I know but any thing will help Allan S

Old Bill
Hi Allan. Welcome aboard! That is a very typical pic of the period, covered with blokes making it quite tricky! The clues are in the hubcaps and spring hangers but I can't quite see the detail. I have tried blowing it up but still can't see. Please may we have a more detailed scan of these areas? No doubt 'Runflat' and 'Great War Truck' will know! Cheers! Steve
Richard Peskett
Probably a Belsize, herewith one of its relations !. The Belsize was not initially a preferred make in WD circles, many were used by bus companies in 1914/16 as replacements for Daimlers and others which had been requistioned. Richard Peskett. Roy Larkin
I'm with Richard on this one. It seems to state on the side 'Load not to exceed 2 tons' which rules out the Napier. Belsize were generally kept for the Home Front but there were some used on the Western Front.
simpson6376
Thankyou one and all I think you have nailed it with the Belsize (never heard of that one) all the details on both pics match pretty well! A new direction for research now. A
