ashley
Hi to all, earlier this year a few of us decided to take the jeeps to France for a day. Due to complications this was not too be,so by car we went arriving at 06:00 hrs on 11th November 2006.The first site we visited it was so dark i didn`t bother taking the camera. The second location was the jump off point for the Highland Div in the battle for France a great place toreally start the day as i met a survivor from this operation earlier this year http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/atcase/france%2006/DSCF0029.jpg[/img] http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/atcase/france%2006/DSCF0030.jpg[/img] Then we moved to Pegasus bridge just a couple of miles away (i`ve not captioned the pictures as i am sure many of you have trod this route, any questions do ask) http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/atcase/france%2006/DSCF0061.jpg[/img] http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/atcase/france%2006/DSCF0033.jpg[/img] http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/atcase/france%2006/DSCF0032.jpg[/img] http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/atcase/france%2006/DSCF0034.jpg[/img] http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/atcase/france%2006/DSCF0036.jpg[/img] http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/atcase/france%2006/DSCF0037.jpg[/img] http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/atcase/france%2006/DSCF0038.jpg[/img] http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/atcase/france%2006/DSCF0040.jpg[/img] http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/atcase/france%2006/DSCF0043.jpg[/img] http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/atcase/france%2006/DSCF0044.jpg[/img] http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/atcase/france%2006/DSCF0047.jpg[/img] http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/atcase/france%2006/DSCF0054.jpg[/img] One of the difficult parts of this thread was which pictures to leave out of the 94 i took that day. After attendind the memorial service at the bridge (with 12 airmen0 it was time to move on to the Longues (sp) battery. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/atcase/france%2006/DSCF0069.jpg[/img] http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/atcase/france%2006/DSCF0071.jpg[/img] http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a344/atcase/france%2006/DSCF0072.jpg[/img]

Jack
Nice work Ashley, some great sites there and I must keep my eyes out for the deal you got - I was saying to Anne that maybe we will be able to get over for a day during Christmas. We are lucky that we live on the coast and we should take more of an advantage of that. Having just finished a book on Pegasus and having a chat with his great newphew at the weekend, I must get there myself. Thanks for taking the time to post up the images for all of us to see. Cheers. Jack.

Enigma
Been there for a 1 day visit in 2000 ( my mate wanted to go home after 1 day, arrived back at 07:00 hours!). So much to see. I was very impressed by the devastation at Point Du Hoc. Also met a US veteran in a museum standing by a Dodge with tears in his eyes. I approached him and said I drove 1 of those. His sad mood cleared and he got his family around him to tell them about me and the fact I had a WW2 Dodge. I was glad to make the man smile again...
