M151A2 Batteries

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Can anyone tell me which batteries/any information of the original batteries (rough measurements, CCA etc.) the MUTT had, or what you use in your MUTT's today?

I have been using a pair of 643's that I buy for my tractors to run the cars but they are far to big to fit in the tray. The battery trays in the cars I am currently rebuilding are well rotten so I was going to design different trays to house modern day equivalent batteries, any ideas on which I should go for would be greatly appreciated, Simon.

I did find a list but can't quickly drop onto the same website page

Some info here about 10 most popular car battery sizes

http://www.advancedbatterysupplies.co.uk/carbatteriescomparedbytype.html

also this is comprehensive but you have got to trawl through

http://www.tayna.co.uk/Numax-Car-Batteries-S219-1.html

096 is a popular size for 2.5 / 3 litre petrol and 2 litre diesel.

Thanks for the help! I might pop into Halfords before I buy one and have a look at the 096 and give it a quick measure.

Simon.

Only LOOK in Halfrauds !!!

Plenty of places that are better value, you just need to decide if to buy cheapest and replace after 3-4 years or better quality.

Last year I bought a large car battery half the price of Halfrauds from Alpha-Products

http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/alpha-products-man/?_trksid=p4340.l2559

067 is same size as 096 but lower capacity / CCA

while this seller offering lifetime guarantee....if still around in 5 years time of course and your MUTT would qualify

Hi,

When I rebuilt my MUTT I removed the tray that sits in the battery box and made a wooden base to create a flat floor as the MUTT floor is curved there and the batteries sat wonky. I then used the largest pair of standard Halfords-type batteries that would fit under the cover. I fabricated clamps to pick up on the original clamping points so it could be returned to original config without any work.

Thanks MG, do you remember the number of the batteries you bought? Regards, Simon.
