Zero-Five-Two Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Can anybody help me with the wiring on the fuel gauge for my Militant? The sender unit has 5 connections, marked as 1, 2, 3, 6+, 7-. See photo The gauge on the instrument panel has 4 connections labeled as Fuel 1, 2, 3, + Any ideas Quote
ArtistsRifles Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Not sure if it's relevant but - there should be two fuel gauges on a Mk 1 - on on the tank itself and one in the cab. I learnt the hard way the one in the cab is notoriously inaccurate.. The one on the tank though was usually about right. Quote
Zero-Five-Two Posted March 21, 2011 Author Posted March 21, 2011 Thanks for the reply Artistsrifles, and you are right, there is a second gauge on the side of the tank, and it is spot on with what is in the tank. Be nice to get the dashboard one working as well, if only for show. Of course there is always the foolproof method of dipping a broomstick in the tank, works every time :-D:-D:-D Quote
Chrisg Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Looks like the same unit as on a Champ assuming that it is and negative earth 1 to 1, 2 to 2, 3 to 3, + power probable goes to ins +/fuel, - negative to R1 neg. Hope this may be of help Quote
antarmike Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 (edited) Block diagram in user handbook only shows 2 wires going to the tank sender unit the gauge shows only three connections. T, B+, and B- so the user manual is at total variance with the machine itself. Edited March 21, 2011 by antarmike Quote

Good luck !:-D Quote
Zero-Five-Two Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 Thanks Andy and Chris for the advice, it seemed a reasonable sequence to me, but I wanted a second opinion before I put 24volts through it and fried the whole lot. Will have a go at the weekend and will let you know. Thanks again Quote
