antarmike
I am puzzled, the Panzerfaust only had a range of 30M or thereabouts. When mounted on an aircraft, how where they intended to be used? What was the intended target? Were they air to surface or air to air? Are these photographs genuine or photoshopped?
antarmike
well I think this is genuine...
Tony B
Called 'Desperation'. :-D The back blast would probably add the biplane to the impact.
antarmike
Could they really expect communications type aircraft to get within 30 metres of a tank without getting blown out of the sky. I bet the pilots were really enthusiastic about this idea!
Tony B
They expected ten and twleve year kids to!
Adrian Barrell
I think the sights go up to 90M..... However, the effective range of 30M is only relevant when used from the ground. Fired from an aircraft, the projectile would travel some distance, though still with a small likelyhood of hitting the target.
antarmike
Are there any records of achieving a kill?
steveo578
I doubt it was more than a shock weapon - it would be a shock I suppose:wow: in areas where air attack wouldn't be expected, -it would be like being beaten up by a cessna 172. As a further point did 15cm and 21cm RFs fitted to ME109 and FW190s as air to air weapons ever hit anything? Steve
Enigma
Panzer faust were being developed to achieve longer ranges. 50 and 100 meters I think. Don't know which ones are pictured. Still a odd combination.
steveo578
They all look like Panzerfaust 60 by the aiming device trigger cover. PF30 used both the original small head Faustpatrone 1 and a later one Faustpatrone 2 was similar to that on the Panzerfaust 60. but the mechanism for aiming was lighter thinner and did not act as a trigger guard, safety catch device?.
