robin craig
Is anyone running theirs on only 2wd and if so with what results? R
Topdog
Not me Robin, too much hassle to undo it - depending on which method you prefer. Not a huge gain, maybe a few mpg. I only do about 500 miles a year so the fuel saving would be minimal. I have never had a problem with wind up. What are you trying to achieve? Save fuel, prevent wind up, cant get some spare parts? Off to War + Peace now, speak later. Dave
steveo578
Hi Robin I think this question was answered in I may be Stupid.... Can i run a ferret (on tarmac) with front driveshafts removed ?? dated 26-02-10 to 4-03-10 and no-one 'fessed up to doing it so that tends to re-enforce the general view that it's not such a good idea. oily
It'll put more strain on the driven parts, thus negating any fuel savings by making other bits wear out quicker, and so cost that way instead....:nono:
Toner
I remember reading in the Ferret Heaven mailing list of attempts to do this (in NI?) by disconnecting the front shafts Usually resulted in broken prop shafts.
