Nick Johns
Hi guys,I need help with identify of this body. Can somebody tell me what kind of lorry whas this? Cheers Radek A quick check on the reference books, can't see anything similar so pretty sure its not ww2 British or American, looks like it was on a 6 wheeler chassis and joined to a crew cab? galvanised steel panels, radio van body? post war, German? steveo578
Not an expert on German trucks but it looks like either a kfz31 ambulance body for a 6 wheeler like a Steyr or Praga or possibly a Krupp L2H143 or a similar kfz61 radio box body on same or similar. But from the photos it could be very heavily modified in particular the rear doors look odd.
simonsfotos
Have checked Pat Ware's "WWII Military Vehicles" and can find nothing in there. Only similar thing was built on an Opel Blitz chassis but that was on a 4-wheel chassis not a 6-wheel. The body on the photo shown in that book was a called a Koffer or 'house' body used for a variety of roles including signals and ambulance. G506
Similar body on a Krupp Theres a guy on one of the WW2 Dodge forums in the US who has built a replica from a CCKW! Not a bad effort actually, and quite similar to this 6 wheeler.
les freathy
Its very similer to the american K53 signals body fitted to the GMC6x6 but the wheel arches dont match, the French army built a body on the lines of the photos and fitted them to there post war ex war time Jimmys
