Daimler scout car (dingo) gearbox spares needed

Hello,

After a bit of advice, a friend of mine has a daimler scout car that he accidently went from reverse to forwards at low speed. Alot of crunching and no drive. What do you think has broken and can you get spares for the dingo? if so who from.

many thanks

Rob

How did he manage to do that? on a Dingo you can't accidently change the f/ward/reverse lever, you'd have to use a lot of force to engage reverse whist traveling forwards unless you hit the brakes and lock the wheels, itl be the transfer box he's damaged not the gearbox btw

Any chance that it was only two wheel drive and he has now broken up a bevel box or popped a drive shaft but that is unlikely if all 4 shafts and wheels are taking their fair share of the load? Other possibility is that the flexible coupling between the transfer box and the gearbox has broken. Someone needs to lie down (ALONGSIDE!) with the belly plates off and look up to see what, if anything, turns when engine is running and gear is engaged. Follow the drive and where rotation stops is a good indicator for the broken bit!

thanks for the info, i will let him know asap. how about spares though ?

Transmission parts for the Dingo are not plentiful, so it is not a case of "what you need", more like "what is available". You need to ascertain exactly what the damage is and work from there. Just a few weeks ago, a used transfer box with broken casing, came up on Ebay with some other Dingo spares, this is the best sort of solution.
