Morris MRA 1 on Scrapheap Challenge

Yesterday I was watching a repeat of Scrapheap Challenge set in Beaulieu Estate near Southampton, the challenge was to build a bomb recovery vehicle. 'Dick's Diamonds' mutilated an early Fifties ex British Army Morris MRA 1 tonner for their attempt, does anyone know what happened to the poor old girl after filming? I'm guessing she got scrapped, another rare truck gone forever.......

I'm not sure what happened to that vehicle , some vehicles are only lent or are bought , I've sold an item to the program makers when they did the Scrppy Racers series ( think four teams ), and they have a budget to work to , The link below shows one I've got chance of

Yes I've seen that thread. If it comes your way grab it! I had to sell my MRA best part of 20 years ago, and have bitterly regretted it since, they're a lovely little truck

Not seen that episode - yet.

All I recall is the Saracen Command Post that was outside the workshop bays in the last but one of the original format series.

There was also a Bedford RL, that got turned into a giant swamp buggy, I think there was a thread on here somewhere about it.

I have to say I was a big fan of the old format of the show, with Robert Llewelyn and Lisa Rogers, but it does'nt do much for classic MV preservation

There is a Morris MRA1 on e-bay at the moment, i think the seller is overly optimistic, but could be good for spares, really is only worth its weight in scrap.

Looks like its ERM in service was 74BE74 and why its owner thinks it is WW2 vintage i am not sure!

Hi Adam,

she looks salvageable, but a serious amount of work needed. Strangely, the fact shes a cargo makes her worth saving, very few left. Most of the survivors seem to be the 'Dry Air Charging' and 'Welding Plant' bodies, which used the cargo body as a base. Presumably the cargo (GS) variants were sold off first, and were used and abused in civvy street, before being scrapped. The specialist bodied trucks stayed in service longer, and by the time they were released MV preservation was far more common.

Really hope someone saves her! Thanks for posting the link
