Canvas Question 1

Hi there , have just spent all day cleaning my newly aquired wc56 dodge , the paint work looks lovely but the canvas hood and the side screens are looking very faided and have lost alot of their green colour , other than that the canvas condition is very good , i,m not minted enough to buy a complete set of canvas for it and as its in good order apart from the colour it,d be a waste of money , i was wondering if there was any was of re-coulouring it , have looked at the car stuff but it looks far too dark ,has anyone got any ideas ?

there is a thread about colouring canvas on the ww2 reenactors forum and it seems people have been succesful colouring faded tents by using fence coating paint as sold by B£Q etc

Get some synthetic paint made at your local paint supplier and thin it with white spirit. 10% paint to 90% white spirit.

Then apply with a brush.

Job done!:-D

Granger's Mesowax is made for the job! Or Granger's Fabsil, Mesowax is available in colours such as Khaki and Olive I believe.

Looks like you have my problem! If using syntetic paint idea, will it make the canvas a bit stiff and does it crack and peel off?

OK, so followed up the search and this is wat i got.

 

Page 2, Wayne15071965. I have spoken to him and he says to use Cuprinol.
