fv1609
What is this substructure part of? (Being a nice day I probably won't respond until this evening. I know some of you think I go all quiet when someone gets near the answer, so I don't want that to give you false hope!) I don't know whether it was used, but it looks pretty flimsy & hard to see how they can keep the platform horizontal. But yes well done Richard you are correct. But yes well done Richard you are correct. Thanks Clive, There were two nets dropped first, made of stainless steel, then a platform was lowered so the helicopter could land on it and transfer troops or supplies into the jungle. Apparantly it was not liked nor used in action.

Tony B
My idea was similar, drop nets then catch para's as they went down. Then absail to the ground. Didn't US go their usual way and invented Pave Blue FAE to flatten 500 yards at a go?
