Jack
D-Day 62 years ago. What can one say about that, it is very difficult to put that into words.
Joris
Massive and sacrifice are the two words that jump into my head when I think about it.

FV601 (R.I.P.)
May the sacrifice made by those whom never returned be remembered by those who enjoy the freedom their lives bought for us. cripp
And what a disgrace that there's been barely a mention of it in the press or TV news. http://rememberthisday.ytmnd.com/
fv1609
Well I read a newspaper, heard many news items on many different stations and found no references to D-Day at all. All we seem to hear about is this confounded football match The human sacrifice was enormous & so was the planning & the logistics. It all happened with tremendous back up by the workforce of this country who made & cartoned up 375 million articles for use in Normandy & by the end of 1944 had provided a further 100 million articles. stanpart57
BBC news website had a section on D-day in the morning but there was no sign of it after lunch! Out here in Germany they don't seem to be making much note of it either  Wish I could be driving my Jeep! You are right though that 'thankyou' does not seem to be even half sufficient for the sacrifices made. Paul.
Enigma
Nothing on Dutch television that I saw either. Still lots of people who remember outside the limelights of TV and such. D-Day meant that German's defeate was all but ensured.
Nick Bombini
Nothing about it here either. There were a few shows about D-Day on the history channel during the day but come night time, it was back to their regular shows.

rambo1969
For those that have fought for it, freedom has a taste the protected will never know.
