oily
hi all, my fuel guage permanently reads 1/2 full, when ignition is on, but goes to empty when turned off, whatever amount of fuel is in tank:confused:,....any ideas as to what the problem is and how to remedy it, until now I've been using a dip stick, in 2 screw fitted caps that I've let into the tank at each end......
saracenstump
possibly the sender is stuck, mine was ,or the end of the spindle has come away and not turning the rotor arm at the top.
oily
no sender not stuck, have dismantled it and checked.... and it all moves freely, float is quite gummed up with brown rusty coloured varnishy type substance. I tried it out in a bucket of petrol, and it floats and moves the innards, so I think it may be an electrical problem.:coffee:
saracenstump
how about the other end? gauge?or possibly the electrical unit on top of the sender?
ArtistsRifles
If it works the same as the Stalwart system - make sure the gauge has a GOOD earth.
oily
thanks Neil, it's different than on a Stalwart, but I'll re-check the earth thing:idea:, good idea..... as I did have it all apart, when repainting the inside of the hull... suppose I could've painted ovr the earthing point befor e re-attaching it......:-\
