Antony
Thanks Supertrack, I put Gaston Gearges on Google, and it gave me a Construction Company, I wonder if you have any idea A.C.M.S.R.P. stands for? Tony.
TooTallMike
Thanks Supertrack, I put Gaston Gearges on Google, and it gave me a Construction Company, I wonder if you have any idea A.C.M.S.R.P. stands for? Tony. Tony, When we had the truck at mine before delivering it I think we worked out from the plate plus the remains of the signwriting on the cab that the truck had been worked by a large hospital located on the outskirts of Paris. We thought it was what has now become the "Association de Centres Médicaux et de Santé de Paris" or Parisian Association of Medical and Health Care Centres. This may not be correct but was the best we could find. - MG

Tony. Tony, If you put Gaston Georges Forain (note spelling of 'Georges') into Google.fr it gives a few hits of small companies in France specialising in circus type construction. I don't have time now but it would be interesting to look further into that. - MG

The Autocar had the remains of a jib on the rear, which suggests it may have been used as a break down vehicle for Hospital transport. Supertrack Thanks, I don't have that one, it will make a perfect 'before', to show the 'after'.
Antony
Progress is still being made on the Autocar, lots of mundane jobs like the braking system. All the brake chambers have been cleaned and new diaphrams fitted, the pipe work and and new fittings where neccessary, and one compressed air tank will have to be made. I am currently making the spare wheel carrier, based on drawings and photographs of the Autocar belonging to N.O.S. Thanks Tony. In the meantime here is a picture of one of the front wings being rolled.
Ben Rippingham
apologies for not being able to get these pic's to you sooner Roy and apologies again as it seems your assumptions were correct as it does have twin axles and not the hex' shaped headboard i thought it had. Antony
Hi Ben, Just to say thanks for all your trouble, it was very kind of you to send details of the trailer, and a great shame it is post war. It could have been a great find for The Autocar. Kind regards, Tony.
N.O.S.
i reply PMi will have infos for parts and radiators next week best regards willy Willy, I went with Roy to Belgium on Wednesday, and at the end of the day we called to collect the two radiators (for Roy and Tootallmike) from Pierre, as arranged by you and Mike. Roy asks me say "Merci beaucoup" to both you and Pierre for arranging to get these to where we could collect easily - it was much appreciated  Viva l'Autocar! Antony
I called round to look at the Autocar this evening, to be greeted on arrival by the sound of the Hercules RXC on fast idle, and Roy checking for oil, air and water leaks, of which there was only air escaping from a faulty connection. It looks good with the new radiator in, it had plenty of oil pressure and ran as if it had just come new from the factory rather than having lain rusting away in the bushes for forty years. I have several photographs to add to the series, which I will do as soon as I can, but lack of time is a bit of a problem at present. Antony
Another update on the Autocar. One of the compressed air tanks needed replacing, so I rolled a new tube for Roy to weld on original ends, and the fifth wheel coupling has been fitted. gritineye
Well done Antony! Having seen it arrive a rusty heap at Mayhem and thought to myself 'Hmm, it'll be a few years before before that reappears from the shed', I have to say I am truly impressed buy the result of what seems to be so much quality work in so short a time! Antony
Chris and Ross arrived in the rain this morning to collect The Autocar, the quality of the pictures reflect the quality of the weather! All went well and it should be now on site. Thanks for your comments Gritineye, but the praise should go to Roy Baker, not me, I just helped a little and took some pictures. Roy and I will look forward to meeting you, Willy 63, to thank you personally for all your help in locating parts.

Bartron
Well after leaving home at London Bridge 05:30, picking up Ross in Croydon, then on to Mikes at Gatwick to get the ERF, on to Roys arriving in the rain at 09:30, having a good catch up with Tony, loading up and a very very wet drive to War and Peace witnessing and great accident with a idiot in a Aston Martin on the A12 in the rain, then an hour in traffic to get across the Bridge we got to War and Peace at 15:00, and then 45 min on the train back to London Bridge getting in at 17:30, its been a fun day and about 370Km, will do it all again week after next to take the Autocar home, Its been quite and adventure since we first meet Roy at War and Peace 3 years ago and on that visit to Beks when he decided he wanted the Autocar, and then meeting Tony as well, I know i say this for me Mike and Vince the trips to Paris and meeting you both have been a lot of fun and glad we have helped in a small way..... Federal next Tony Edited July 16, 2011 by Bartron
