  1. AHA! Internet Archive strikes again Found the original http://web.archive.org/web/20040703161423/http://www.atra.mod.uk/atra/INFBATTSCH/itcwales/Structure/Junior_Tactics_Company/KIT_LIST.htm
  2. The Met do similar; I've seen countless numbers of Pandas and ARs with black vinyl "Not in Service" covers on to-ing and fro-ing from Met garages over the years.
  3. Neil, DS cannot be two places at once  I carried two canisters in my haversack; one, fitted to the resi "just in case", was the regular can. The other was the summer weight job, stowed properly, and would be swapped over the moment DS were out of sight. Worked every time Both cans were red-tape marked, and of the METAL type, not the plastic crap that came later. Plastic ones were nigh-on impossible to summerweight, of course. Probably why they introduced them (some former DS on the company payroll, no doubt, the sneaky blighter):argh: To those who don't know, exercise use only resi cans were meant to be marked with red tape around the casing, to show that they were merely for defence against CS and smoke, and were not under any circumstances, to be used to defend against actual NBC situations. The idea was that Company/Squadron/whatever stores would hold sufficient stock to supply each squaddie/sqaddess with two thick polythene-wrapped and sealed "in-date" (resi cans have a shelf life) "warshot" cans, and once in the fight, would be resupplied with cans as required through the supply chain. Well.... that was the idea, anyhow... thankfully it never came to the test
  4. Don't tell me none of you summer-weighted "Training" canisters?! Good Lord, I thought all you regs did that  And yeah, I learned that one from an ex-reg... only word of warning he mentioned... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . "Never use the summer can in the gas chamber, OK?"

  6. OK, found the kit list. You can see it at: http://www.practicalairsoft.co.uk/cwp/downloads/itc-kitlist.html Note that this was downloaded off the Infantry Training Centre (ITC) website something like seven (7) years ago. I've searched, and the original is no longer to be found publicly online, as it would appear to have been fully updated to current doctrine, and at presumably moved to the ArmyNet site, which is the British Army's new-fangled secure Extranet service.
  7. I've got the RMP version of the PLCE packing list knocking around here somewhere. I'll see if I can find it for you. Re 1960s kit, 58 webbing took about five to eight years to fully filter through. I've photos from the late 60s from BAOR showing RMP in 37 pattern webbing, for pities sake! HOWEVER, this should help with the uniform gear a bit, I hope... http://www.practicalairsoft.co.uk/cwp/uniform-clothing.html Hope it helps, anyway
  8. Pete, mate, it was great having you lot there to help us Look forward to seeing your lot next year too
  9. I'm considering buying some kit from there (leather belt and accessories) that I cannot find over here in the UK, and noted that their site does not have an https secure socket for online ordering, despite having the forms and whatnot for web sales. Their hours of business are limited to 2pm-8pm local time (North Carolina time zone), limiting the times they're available to phone, so before I go to the trouble and expense of phoning them from the UK, I was wondering if anyone has had any dealings with them, good or bad? Their web site is at: http://www.gowenmilitaria.com/ Snailmail address listed as: Gowen Militaria 1404 Ragsdale Road Greenville, NC 27858 ph: 252-830-5353 Thanks in advance for any light anyone can shed on this one
  10. Any news on when the official photos'll be uploaded and published on the bunker bash webby?
  11. Fine. I say we ban the import of Snails, then. That'll hurt their economy
  12. Ah. Oh well. oho. makes sense put that way. OK, thanks for the explanation Sorry to hear it, anyhow, I always thought Stollies were rather unique and excellent ideas, but given your comments, they must've been a right royal pain to keep operational back in the day!
  13. Fair to say I know nothing about stolies, but I do know something about air hydraulics, being a PSV driver - surely the systems brakes would fail ON rather than fail OFF? Would that help narrow down the problem?
  14. I know, but they didn't have to clean our uniforms, though
  15. I'm thinking we do to him what we did to a certain slightly stroppy Cadet  (Don't worry folks, the cadet actually ASKED for us to do that! And to think that some folks pay good money to have it done to them!!!)

  18. Now now, Lee... don't be cruel It's a big tent  He had to drop it offf before he got his SLAC* on board, or they'd never have been able to fit into his coach :-D *SLAC Mnemonic. Noun. Self-Loading Ambulatory Cargo Passengers Auto-positioning ballast for use on public service vehicles when there are high winds present.

  21. I've been saying that for bloody years. It's why I was so P.O.'d when Mr. Ashdown decided he'd had enough of the backstabbing in that place and retired. Oh well. Can't say I really blame him, actually. :coffee:
