  1. 'yes, PFC Pylock, your comment "Oh ****" was indeed very poignant' commented the Master Sergeant '... but how the hell are you planning on getting my ammunition outta there?!'
  2. :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
  3. Got mine outside WH Smiths in Streatham a couple of days back - first Poppy seller I've seen this year, and NONE of the usual super stores I frequent (Sainsburys, Tescos, etc) had the usually expected Poppy appeal points set up, VERY disappointing, as by this time last year we were well inundated with Poppy points all over the place - someone in the RBL should take note of that, and suggest that the stores prepare for next year, this year!
  4. Just searched all of iPlayer on the beeb side - no trace. Got a link to this item?
  5. The Household Cavalry probably have a few breastplates dating back to the Victorian Era, if that's any help :nut:
  6. oops :embarrassed: That'll teach me to read the darn thread properly - I thought it was about the event just gone this weekend over at Firepower!
  7. FWIW, there's a Firepower event that's normally held in the beginning of the year as well - I'll try to post up about it nearer the date, but think Feb/march, iirc.
  8. heh... you obviously saw us trying to communicate with a half asleep driver... "No, those arm signals did NOT mean perform a Neutral turn, pull your half track inside out, and then make an omelette!" :evil:
  9. Belated happy returns, Neil - hope it was a fun one
  10. Nice to see you there lads VERY busy day there, and if you noticed, LOTS of red hats in evidence (not just my small mob either) :evil:
  11. Ferget the passport: HMVF Travel Orders will suffice - they're like NATO Travel orders but without the bovine scatology factor :evil:
  12. OK, photo elements: WRAC Provost, uniform looks vaguely tropical so call it either Singapore or Hong Kong, Note the black and white grainy photo standard, and the posed nature of the shot, Add the black armband and SD Caps... Dates it post 1950s and pre 1968 (uniform changes all round). Oh, and I think I've seen that photo before... I'll do some digging...
  13. Not for the road run, but I'll be at the dockyards for the regular Monthly Militaria Fair in my 80 Provost guise; look for the RMP in 1980s kit and make yourself known, if you visit the fair
  14. a couple of photos from the event Note the bragging bit with the trophy from MM08 in the apex of the Ops Tent
  15. Erm... :wow: I think a careful re-write there might help :evil::whistle:
  16. Oh fudge... "huge response", eh? Hmph... that's the death-knell for all those myths on how we're taught to beat offenders to an inch of their lives without leaving marks, then :evil: (Dunno about the other branches of Service Police, mind, they're probably hiding all the manuals talking about flowers and chocolates to offenders prior to arrest :rofl:)
  17. hmm... still feasible - UK Ham allocation at 70cm is secondary, after all
  18. heh, I'm betting on the latter - I've never yet seen a telly in military use to have a poor signal:evil::whistle::rofl:
  19. So I take it my personal camouflage was up to snuff then, as no-one saw me at all? :evil: despite the fact that I couldn't make it there, lol:rofl:
  20. heh, breath in breath out indeed pmsl :rofl: Anyhow: Bus Drivers survival guide: Beware of: Any car bearing BMW, Mercedes Benz, Daimler, hell, any "prestige" make, all 4x4 (incl Armed Forces vehicles!), MPVs and SUVs, Scooters, bikes, both pedal and motirised, Emergency Services, and, most importantly, black cabs and minicabs, who seem to take perverse pleasure ion behaving like potential bonnet ornaments without warning! :evil:
  21. hmm... may well be related to Ptarmigan or Triffid, they're both point to point systems, but I was under the impression that those used masthead dishes, rather than loose directional antennas. Be interesting to get the results of the analysis, at the very least you'll have a better idea of how you might be able to use it
