  1. R.I.P. another great man passed away.
  2. my first vehicle ; at the age of 18 , read an ad in a local newspaper about a Willys for sale, went to see it , looked very sound , just in need of new paint , but for the same price of that Willys there was that BMW 320 i , the salesman offered us . My father (who had the cash) , convinced me to go for the BMW, and so I did. conclusion , 20 years later , the BMW has long been recycled , if I had chosen for the Willys , it would still be in my garage, I still feel bad about that.:embarrassed::embarrassed::embarrassed: This took place in 1981 , 6 years later I bought a Ford GPW, composite body......

  8. A friend is restoring his British made motorcycle , for which he bought a brand new (Indian made) engine . Can anyone tell him what quality of oil he should pour in? Thanks
  9. I've been following this topic , because I had serious trouble in the past , with my weapons and 25 Pr gun I learned there is a big difference between a collector of firearms (live or de-act), a reenactor and members of a demo team (shooting on public events) When police entered my shed , they wanted to confiscate the complete collection , because they could not tell the difference between "real" deact specimen and "replica" . It almost took 2 years before they'd sorted that out , because the replica's were damm good repro's, and off course there were no certificate's belonging to these arms I know laws are very different from country to country , so the Dutch people are strictly forbidden to carry any weapon in their vehicle , not even a plastic -very recognizable- toy gun. Belgium was a lot more open minded , since couple of years ago laws had changed and the majority of people didn't know what to do or don't.Beware if you take your vehicle and kit out of your country , no EUROPEAN REGULATION so far!!
  10. amazing find , didn't know these limbers can still be found !!
  11. hi there , a nice project you have going on , I'm restoring a Jimmy as well , good luck with the cargo bed:-D
  12. that's it , upper hull has been removed , drive train , sprockets , etc , all there
  13. I discovered the drive train of a Vickers Utility Tractor , at a farmers shed , the family wants to sell , any idea what it's worth ??? Upper structure has been removed after the war , so only the mechanical parts available Have no photo yet , try to have one in the near future
  14. congratulations with your amazing result , absolutely fabulous to see and hear the "old lady" coming to life again , keep up the good work !!
  15. Yes , I found out some answers about the different helmets , the metal helmet belonged to a "French Dragoon" , is in a remarkably good state of conservation , has been kept very well ,dry stored in a box , the model dates from 1874 , but was still in use in WW 1 ---- The French Dragoons fought in a battle in our neighborhood , possible the helmet was left behind , as there has only been stamped 1 registration nr at the back of the helmet ( re-issue shows by several stamps in the helmet shell) The liner has suffered from being kept too dry---cracked the black horse tail needs to be changed The 2 German spiked helmets belonged to a Prussian infantry regiment , model 1915 , with removable metal spike , 1 is in perfect condition , perfect liner the other has suffered from battle damage at the outer shell , inner liner totally ruined , both helmets are missing the cocardes and leather chinstraps , both are infantry trooper helmets , helmets were probably left behind at the end of WW 1 , as the German troopers often asked for civilian clothes , to escape captivity and repression on their way back home about the British helmet , nothing found out yet , but research is going on This sure is the most impressive discovery ever shown to me , found in my neighborhood , it prooves that treasures sill can be found, about 2 years ago , a farmer came to my , after discovering a German mauser Gewehr 98 with its bayonet , dating from WW 1 , and found at the same area, perhaps more stuff is hidden here !!! Let's hope !!
  16. Yes he is , and not even a collector
  17. A friend of mine discovered some very nice headgear during renovation works on an old farmhouse ,
  18. Congratulations with your new born son:-):-)
  19. I think it's up for sale , stands at a car park with some other 2nd hand cars
  20. As I've reported earlier on the forum , I spotted the remains of a WW 1 truck , a bit of research showed me it's a Peugeot , not yet an idea about its year of birth, went to the site this evening and took some shots;
  21. No it isn't , it's civilian manufactured , but very solid, with 2 heavy hydraulic cylinders, probably early '60
  22. Saving at least some parts of it:-) It can always help another collector-restorer, desperate for that one rare part , as this is a split-axle CCKW
  23. Brought the old lady home , saved it from the torch and total demolition All the components worth saving will be removed and available for somebody in need of those parts , on the bonnet , original registration number and "white star" on the side panel clearly visible, on the dash , original plates still present
  24. OK , we're getting smarter every day , thanks a lot :-)
  25. had a quick clean of 3 cans, still solid at the bottom , some pits but definetly worth to preserve, does anybody has any idea about the various modells of caps , and what is the meaning of ICC- 5 L , stamped on the bottom?
