Rebuilt / cleaned air system. The bleed valve was gunged up. Not sure what the governor was set to but it was also gunged up reset to 120psi. The cabin valve diaphragm was split and inop cut a new and reset to 65psi. The wiper switch was leaking and the main wiper too. fixed those leaks and rebuilt the airpacks found a loose pipe in the hull and now she holds and builds pressure well. Brakes bleed and tested but still seem a little spongy. Clutch is right at the bottom of the pedal need to investigate. tanks out next to find noisy bevel box...

  6. Why fit a 24v to 12 v dropper? Just pick a feed of the battery closest to the earth and you have 12volts... cheap as chips...

Yes Ron I have read your thread on your stalwart with great interest . Once I cleaned the joints up and tested them as in the Emers they came out good which was a relief . I have been thinking about the grease nipple mod you did. Unfortunately Dust boots are a requirement in the UK if you use on the roads tracking some down was the hardest part. john

  10. I s there a way to stop searching avatars and signatures when looking for something? I am sure that joe blogs is proud of the fact that he owns a tiger 2 steering wheel but its a real pain when your looking for something and totally irrelevant. Grumpy john
  11. Been busy overhauling the brake calipers on my Stalwart. The caliper is a 4 pot iron affair of 2 halves. Well 5 of mine are ,the sixth has an alloy half and chromed pistons. The pistons seem home made and while the bearing face is very good the underside is quite rough. The alloy casting seems identical to the steel half on the other calipers ,anybody know where it comes from?
  12. Yes found that out about 1/2 way through the day. did think it was a eureka moment but unfortunately not. Is their a quil drive on the motor to winch drive or is purely protected by the pressure relief valves?
  13. Spent the day trying to get my stalwart winch working. I think its the Morris winch. Have new Hydraulic fluid and the pump engages. gearbox fluid is okay in the winch. I can disengage the clutch and move the drum by hand in and out. I can hear something when I try to wind in or out but the drum does not move. no obvious leaks and the control valve seems operate in sympathy to the winch lever. Any ideas anything obvious with these winches? John
