  4. l know nothing about fire engines other than a lot are painted red and l keep away from them a lot went to FVRDE over the years 4x2 4x4 6x6 these are just two that were there
  5. Never been a fan of fire engines but first Thorneycroft DP 4X4 seem to appear it the late 1950s in the list of RAF FLEET numbers the 6x6 in 1960
  6. The early floatation trials with the prototype's took place in a flooded quarry the sea trials took place in the SOLENT this involved getting in and out of a LST in what appears to be a rough sea both empty and with a load once or twice while attempting to get up the ramp the swell sends broadside across it ' It is funny that what appears to be the stand by boat is a DUKW which manages to do the up and down the ramp with no problem
  7. l thought you may like to see a picture of one of the Stalwarts on your list while taking part in the cross country trials at FVRDE you can make out it's wing number
  8. l just found the vehicle lists for the 1956 and 1962 FVRDE EXHIBITIONS as you know the picture in both of the fv651 [ A ] is the same but you may not be aware of its number the salamander was 03 AG 46. As l said a number of stalwarts went to MVEE with only the wing number one that was sent to R A E BEDFORD from there had wing number 6219 it appears in the ledger at FVRDE without a registration. As to your PM the video in all is over fifty minutes long and covers the factory floor showing SALADINS been made as well as Salamander been trailed stalwarts cross Country as well in the sea all so the early stalwart prototypes it was transferred from 16mm to vhs and with the original 16 mm is in storage because of the need to be preserved two part sections were copied one for dave jenner a
  9. HALF way through found half a dozen sent to MVEEE that have a wing number but no registration and none match your list for Stalwarts . 11. one thing l seem to remember FVRDE trade plates used TP no DU
  12. 09 CE 89 contract number 6/v/26215 down as a cargo HISTORY CARD should be at RLC

  14. a number of post war AUSTINS WERE fitted with the ZENITH 42VI 8 austin sixteen 1946/47 austin A70 austin 25 cwt of early 1950s
  15. Mark this how it works if a prototype vehicle went under tests it would have one of the following or even two a P prefix a SP NUMBER a service number a civilian number and or ESTABLISHMENT number any of these with this l can start also vehicles tested at CHRISTCHURCH some times went with none of these only to receive its' identity on return to FVRDE . There are hundreds of items listed in the ledgers in no order or type and in some case's not in date order
  16. l have just checked the history card index which is the list of history cards that were once held at the museum of army transport it lists all the 9K AUSTIN held there up to 2003 these are for the contract number 6/V/7877 registration numbers 29 BG 47 TO 99 BG 46 There was only number 00 BG 01 to 29 BG 46 allocated to the MORRIS MAR 1 these two vehicle take up the whole of the BG series
  17. In this case there is no starting point for me to start looking
  18. That looks like the TILT PLATFORM at MVEE CHRISTCHURCH there is no establishment number to be seen so it would be hard to find any information
  19. first it may help if you look for the data plate which this is a brass plate usually fix to the off side chassis rail if that is not there give them the chassis number the chances are it was in the BG series of military registration numbers and will be found on the brass data plate and will be two numbers two letters two numbers either of the above will give the RLC MUSEUM a good chance of having the history card
  20. I did not know you were interested in Alvis Stalwart driver training units they are listed numbers 26 AG62 TO 26 AG 64
  21. Yesterday l had to put some more documents in to storage while there l took the opportunity to find the FVRDE ledger of establishment numbers allocated items this is just a list of the numbers allocated to items or vehicles and in the case of a vehicle the registration number by looking at establishment number it confirmed that 7227 was allocated to NGY 999 l was WRONG in saying it was NGY 990. l will not alter the other ledger listing as that is how it looked to me but will attach a note correcting the error
  22. Yesterday l took some more documents in to storage with my others while there also to find another document for something l had answered on this forum while there l came across a list of RAF SALAMANDER REGISTRATION NUMBERS 23 AG 56 TO 23 AG 95 03 AG 72 TO 03 AG 99 MK 6 26 AG 65 TO 26 AG 73 MK 6C 03 AG 46 TO 03 AG 49 MK6A
  23. l have looked very closely at the entry and it does have a mark below the last number but it is hard to say it is a unfinished number number nine as there are number eights that look like three's
  24. first let me say l do not recall been asked for details of NGY 998 Secondly there were a number of quarter ton land rover tenders at FVRDE IN THE NGY series as well as in the RGX attached is a page from the ledgers the the entry is faded and appears to be in pencil but it is clearly 990. As to RUDDINGTON SALES catalogues l have a number but after spending this afternoon looking through hundreds of entries for the above ngy 990.bmp
  25. As 52 EK 60 came into service in the sixties its record is on a 419B history card now is held at the RLC MUSEUM . 00 AG 79 are you sure its registration number was 07 ER 63 as l have it as 07 ER 67 the EK series of numbers are at RLC
