  1. Engine fallen out and made it's way over to the Champ by any chance?
  2. Great to see, wish I had mine back together. Doesn't quite fit the V8 convertible sportscar bill with those rear seats though
  3. Seems brilliantly simply and relatively safe then at low pressure. Just a matter of being able to source the calcium carbide.
  4. You call it an acetylene generator rather than a simple storage tank. How does this thing work? Guessing it warms petrol or some other gas until it changes composition. Will you be looking to have it working given how dangerous acetylene is, or have you some other method of lighting for the truck?
  5. In my experience the non insulated ones take longer to crimp correctly and fit the seperate insulating sleeves then slide it over the finished connection. That's why businesses use them to save money.
  6. Didn't see any jeeps for a change. Usually they're over represented at most events,in my opinion, but not this time.
  7. A very tidy Diamond T wrecker, not long out on the show scene after many years of restoration, and recently returned from a trip to Normandy.
  8. Quite a few M series trucks in attendance. This tanker version did sterling service as a tender to the steamers.
  9. Had a trip out to Chelford in Cheshire yesterday, steam rally with a quite a few military trucks. Very tidy looking Explorer and Green Godess together.
  10. Multi-fuel engine I assume. Could just be that you've if you've topped up with a different mix of less volatile fuel!
  11. Well he's a least got it the right way round, stop muck and dust getting sucked into the mechanism.
  12. You sure that's not the wife on a shopping trip?
  13. Interesting link. Were the Loos trenches a training facility or public attraction? Photo of the entrance suggests the latter but seems a strange thing to have during the war or immediately after.
  14. I had some thoughts on that when Neil posted CW but decided not to go there! But seeing as you have shown less reserve than myself, here goes. Boyfriend returns from holiday with large cases of imported Eastern block weapons to appease potential future father in law. Father does'nt want to know about this dodgy dealing. As for who said weapons may be aimed at, I believe were not allowed to mention his name!
  15. Bet that compressor barrel will be fun to get back on! On the plus side, winch bracket doesn't look too difficult to re-fabricate. How much of Neil's orginal truck has made it over to this new hull? Obviously not as much as intended, just wondered about engine and gearbox and there condition.
  16. A good point Mike, Were taper roller bearings available at this time? Was it done just because it was easier to change the thrust bearings than main bearings? Be interesting to get Tim's and other views.
  17. That may explain why you are undisputed skittles champ, just getting a big ball to run true!
  18. This might give a guide price. http://www.bearingboys.co.uk/MJ2.1_4_Imperial_Ball_Bearing-5644-p Listed as the budget option :shake:
  19. I believe some of the latest military trucks have full complicated electronic management systems, modern high pressure injectors and such to comply with emmissions regulations. If they were to be stripped out they couldn't run.
