  1. Thats one hunk of metal for that engine lifting point ! and judging by the limited access on the hull side I d guess its going to be a repair job done out of the vessel ? How difficult is it to extract the engine then ?
  2. I can understand the upper sides rolling up or thrown on top and the lower sides forming a walking plateform as in a couple of these units parked side by side but the roof edge or gutter height seems a tad bit low in headroom.... must have a bit of heavy gear moved with them as the max limit it lists is 1083 kg's or 2382.6 lbs. What were they used for in the Military then ?? something to do with repair of a weapons system ?
  3. Sorry to hear of your troubles with your new toy . As to your Scammell's present condition We understand rolling restorations , I have yet to meet someone who has had the luck of winning the big lucky money lottery and can afford to have all the toys and all the goodies at the same time . feel free to post your photo's as we all learn from others expericances and adventures.

  6. Welcome to the Friendly Forum , A fine looking Vehicle glad you joined up and as said please feel free to post as many photo's as you like . even though you have a bother thats a member you will still have small chores to do about the Club House until such time as new member joins to replace you in the rotation of cleaning and serving duties, I m sure you wont have to serve long . In the mean time you can remove the stolly spares from storage in the mens shower as we have many Dodge transmissions parts to get cleaned .

  10. Welcome to the Friendy Forum , I m sure some one will be able to help you with information you are looking for shortly . Please post any photo's you have of your Vehicles as We all love to see each others projects and Toys. 11. They all look to be runners and in good repair , its not like they were up on blocks or in pieces , Must be new comers in his area that feel his collection is bring down the property values . I d think if he were to fence them so they could not be seen from what ever road or track passes by his property that should quiet the whiners ,of course if they were all taxed and registered that wouldnt hurt to avoid others saying he has a scrap yard going on . I ran through a simular problem with the town housing inspector who objected to my CCKW and a friends and my Ben Hur trailer . It took a while to sort out, but I won and in the end the Inspector was fired for other reasons.
  12. Well done N.O.S. with your making the grade as they say and passing the 1000 post mark . Good thing they only count quantity and not the quality of the posts otherwise I fear many would never have made it to such high numbers , myself included.:coffee: Hope they ordered enough Cream Custards and cola for the large number now meeting behind the secret door on the third floor second turning on the right ooops not ment to say THAT in public:shake::shake::nono:
  13. What was the regular maintance requirements like ? were the exposed valve stems oiled ? what was its road speed like ? transmission speeds ? Great looking job I m sure you must have spent thousands of hours bring it back from the edge of destruction !
  14. Welcome to the Friendly Forum what ever you own if it's a HMV than your in the right place ...even if you didnt have a vehicle you would be welcomed just the same . Now you will be assigned cleaning duties about the Club house as so many other Champ and Humber owners have insisted on doing their oil changes in the enterance area of the club house there by soiling the Carpets very badly .....your job is to get the oil out but if another new member signs up thne you will pass your duties to them . See you in the bar as most have gathered around the wide screen tv to watch War movies .
  15. I ve been trying to locate more but have not had any success yet

  20. It may well be the same one , Although I had visited the museum some time ago I don't recall seeing it at the time, My interest was running more to Half Tracks then so I would'nt have noticed a ship shaped building :cool2:
  21. that had mostly to do with the axle design on the first generation MUTTS the drive shaft axles had a single u/v joint close to the diff. for each wheel which in hard corning cause the outside wheel to tuck under and roll the vehicle in the later models they used two u/v joints per drive shaft axle to keep the camber the same as the wheel moved up and down they also added rollcages and web netting .A number of vehicles were sold at auction before the government change policy and all MUTTS had to be X cut and crushed usually a Bulldozer sometimes a ARV tank .
  22. found this interesting photo of dry land training of tanks and simulated LST shaped building at Fort Knox KY. the caption with the photo "This is eligible for the National Register. From the sign: The LST Building replicated every detail of the tank deck of an LST ship including replication of interior girders and rivets. Details of the upper deck of an LST ship such as the railing and pilot house were also replicated. Since the tank deck rides below below water level, the building originally had no windows--these were added when the building was a classroom"
  23. Thanks for taking and posting all those photo's !! I hope the problem with the Ward was only minor???
