  1. I agree with the Arena issue, you can't see anything of the Battle Reenactment once people line the fence.I managed to see a 50 firing from the American side and the Dead Germans coming back to life after it was finished, good thing Rick Grimes wasn't there he may have popped a few thinking they were walkers. You had that nice Banking before to Stand on to watch everything.Lets just take this show back to the Hop Farm.If that happens next year it will be packed and would please a lot of people. It would be a guaranteed success, well I think so anyway
  2. I have been going to this show for years and I have some observations after visiting the show on Thursday. As already mentioned there were very noticeable gaps in the living History and Vehicle Display fields. The classic car section which was quite well supported last year was virtually non existent. For some strange reason the Allo Allo cast were moved to the stalls area and I had actually walked past their location several times and didn't even notice them.Heir Flick as sweating in that leather Great coat all day and was taking no Deutschmarks from his signed pics. The main Beer Tent seemed the same as usaul but the tent that you walk through as you go into this tent was empty with some piled up chairs.Even Poor Elvis who was leaning on the corner of the Tent looked Pissed Off! and didn't look like he was in the mood for shaking those hips anytime soon. Where the Allo Allo cast were last year there was a French Cafe Dioramma which was Absent this years do the Staff Cars which Were on the Green by the static spitfires and Hurricane were missing.I didn't see the Bofors gun or searchlight set up there either. The WW1 Trench Dioramma in front of the BANDSTAND was also missing. The Victorian Restaurant which was buzzing last year was Boarded up and desolate and the site actually looked quite Rundown.I didn't see the usaul Naffi shop but think that's already been covered. This is such a shame as this show has always been the Best Military show ever but something is definitely going wrong. The control room who have the PA system I think even gave up and started pumping out Diana Ross from the local Radio Station! At this point I must admit I felt quite down and was looking for something sharp to impale myself on! .I have never seen it like this and if the organisers have the attitude as previously mentioned then the decline that we have seen this year will end in this great events ultimate demise. The organisers need to take notice! Otherwise We will definitely not see this show continuing for much longer. I think what would also make this show improve would be to have a Major focus on classic and American Cars.Lets not forget that many of the servicemen who came back from these campaigns also had this part of their lives when returning to civilian life.I did suggest this to Rex who did start the separate classic car entry which is great but I think it really needs to be promoted more.As my wife said who has been there a few times it's good but it's abit samey The public would appreciate as much variety as possible. Also what happened to the guy from the Hop farm who used to do those fantastic Diorammas.I Remember the Church Ruin and it being Candlelit at Night that looked amazing.I also Remember the GMC Naffi Van and Dance floor area where you could watch the dancing whilst getting a coffee and Doughnut well into the night.I think we have to have a Bring Back REX Campaign. I think he did a REXIT on us,damn you Cadman :-(>
  3. I loved the show but for me there were issues. The living History field I thought was Badly laid out.The one way system which was put in place cut the Displays in Half. The public only walked through one side of the field and never came to where I was or indeed the other living history Displays beside me.This happened throughout the week and was a shame considering the considerably effort everyone had made.Lack of any kind of cashpoints was a major issue not only for myself but other people at the show.We walked to the local service station and rest stop to find the cashpoints empty and inoperable which left us having to withdraw euros from the only cash point available and converting back to sterling at the bureau de change!.I also thought the stalls weren't as well laid out as Beltring as they wherein 2 areas of the venue and not all together as usual.Apart from that I enjoyed myself.
  4. 101st are turning their Dakotas around and heading back to base snafu! Troops are gutted!looking forward to 2013,
  5. Im sure this show will be cancelled very shortly on Health and Safety grounds,I cannot see the public being allowed to enter the site considering the state of the site and rain on its way for another 2 days
  6. . MUDDER FUDDER!!! I have noticed that the organisers have slowed up their postings on Facebook, could an announcement be due shortly? ...I reckon so
  7. Is that making a difference?,I'm really in two minds whether to come or not now as I have to buy a tent this year and I'm a bit reluctant to fork out £400 if it's going to be bad :-(plus it's a long way from nijmegen for me and the boys :-)
  8. I was thinking about this myself , apart from Beltring I remember attending a show called the DEBDEN CARVE UP! years ago. It was at the old RAF Airbase in DEBDEN ESSEX ,which the army had called carver barracks And was then home to an armoured regiment when we visited. It also used to be home to the USAAF 4th Fighter Group , We were told that during the war the fighter Ace Capt. Don S. Gentile was based there . Don and his famous P51 Shangri-La got a little low and bounced off the ground while showing off for the cameras ON April 8th 1944 and that he was sent back home after this incident, and that his aircraft was broken up and dumped into a scrap pit at the rear of the base The airfield was completely intact with hangers and restored control operations room remaining and runway which had not been used since 1975. The show wasn't open to the public and the army brought out all there armoured vehicles which they took us around the airfield in .I think my brother drove one as well. The show wasn't open to the public so we could drive our vehicles all over the airfield up the runways etc.We were taken for a tour around the airfield into the ops room etc and I remember a big guy! who people called blue who was there with a gmc truck that he used to ferry us about in. I also rember camping at Biggin Hill with my brother and a friend with our jeep and after the show ended driving along the old runway which was out of use and watching as two A10 Thunderbolts landed and taxied from the main runway over to where we were parked , The pilots got out and we started talking to them! I think shows in the old days were so unrestricted.

  12. There must have been far more casualties that ambulance was non stop! and always seemed to be heading into americas field.word at the farm was americas was as bad as south central LA. I even got involved in a drive by whilst out in the 5 o I was ambushed by the Barmy Army with super soakers!
  13. CHRIS BURLEY Here! Brother of that Lord BURLEY Bloke! who after much arm twisting and persuassion at gun point! (Not really) has got me to join the forum I hope to be posting lots and some day become a lord just like him. I was the one with the police car at w&p looking for felons on west 16th street which I never got to as those guys in the red shirts (Crips gang members I think) popped up from all over the place and warned me in no uncertain terms that I was on their turf now so get those lights and sirens off! Anyway enough rambling happy to be on board!
