  1. Nice to see a genuine Army Q4 cargo, looks in good condition.
  2. Thanks Ted, My friend may have lifted the pic from a website and it was titled Akrotiri. Do you reckon they might have "borrowed" the rego plates from a staff car?
  3. Think you are right Les, that was the name I could not remember
  4. It loks like there may be a joystick under the soldiers right hand. I am going for a controller for some guided weapon, with the indicator indicating the range to the target, or how far the weapon has travelled.
  5. Can I join in now Alan? The "C" vehicle, 01HV61, looks like it might be a Muir Hill, going by axles, possibly some kind of telehandler perhaps
  6. Here is the pic of the Triumph TR sports car with RAF reg. no. It was sent by a friend, the original source unknown. I know the location but will be interested to see who will identify it. no donkeys were knowingly hurt by this vehicle
  7. Hi Marcel, I have no idea, but at least it is in safe hands.
  8. Here you are Mark, hot news from the museum; www.brooklandsmuseum.com/index.php?/vimy/vimy-news
  9. A speed indicator for an aircraft engine, or rocket motor?
  10. Mark, From recollection of my last visit for the 100th anniversary event, that road is wide enough. The aircraft does not need a lot of runway to land, from what I have seen before. I understand it is registered on a US experimental registration and flying time is restricted, hence why it is coming to Brooklands for its final flight. Saying all this, with the weather at present it would have to dramatically improve overnight, I would have thought. Keep an eye on that forum link as they seem to be in the loop as far as aircraft happenings.
  11. Just read on the Historic Aviation forum, that the replica Vickers Vimy aircraft is planned to fly in to Brooklands on Sunday, to its final resting place. With the weather how it is at present, this may not happen I guess, but it would be a sight to see. I did a MV restoration for the original owner and was present on two nearby airstrips when he landed it, a very large biplane, very impressive when you think of the flights across the world that it has done. http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=95729
  12. Marcel, That sounds like the one I have seen, definitely a British built one as the Vickers chassis plate was still in place.
  13. Hi Chris, Welcome from another Ashfordian regards, Richard
  14. Oh dear Graham, I think you have just upset our leader. No tent discounts for you :-D
  15. A question for you RAF types........do you know of any Triumph TR5 or TR6 open sports cars that were in RAF service? I saw a photo recently of one with RAF reg plates.
  16. Hi John, We learn all the time, it is only on places like this that heads get together and facts emerge. regards, Richard
  17. Hi Marcel, I think that is a Vickers Loyd military tractor converted for agricultural use. I have seen one this year, bought from France. The driving position has been reversed so that the engine is now in front. Probably they were left behind in 1940 after we withdrew from France.
  18. The front wheels are rather unusual for a Standard.
  19. David, On the container bodies, there is a instruction plate on the lower side in raised lettering and diagram, showing layout of clamps, they were different between RL and MK/J, this shows the difference.
  20. Possibly a Jet Provost T3 ? The Standard at Northallerton www.dtvmovements.co.uk/images/XN458.jpg
