It is on Information TV and looking at their website the programme is broadcast on Saturday mornings at 8.30am (current UK time), but at this present time, I do not know the date of the Corowa show, as soon as we know it, either Jan or I will post it up. If you want to check out the Information TV website, here is a link; http://information.tv/WhatIsOn/TheSchedule/?day=2 regards, Richard
  11. Hi, The Annual Corowa Swim-In & Military Vehicle Gathering was held as usual in March, at Corowa, NSW, Australia. In the week before the event, I was able to make contact with Fletch from the TV series, Classic Restos. His programme is shown in Australia, New Zealand, USA and UK and focuses on car, truck and motor cycle shows, where he talks to owners about their vehicles, he has a good following. Negotiations were made with him and the KVE committee who organise the event, Fletch agreed to come along during the week and do a programme. Military vehicle collectors are a new avenue for him and the variation of vehicle types made it interesting. He was able to film a GPA amphibious jeep in and out of the water along with many other vehicles and their owners. The programme is on Information TV in the UK, which I understand is viewable on Sky 212 and Freesat 401. Time of broadcast for the UK is not known as yet. It will be on shown on TVS Television Sydney CH44 on 24th April and C31 Television Melbourne CH44 on 18th April For other stations details please see the attachment. regards, Richard Classic Restos TV links.pdf
  12. hi Martin, John Morter has the modern replacement, instead of throwing the whole thing away there is now a casing which has a modern spin on filter (readily available) to fit inside. regards, Richard
  13. Hi James, Thats a worry, having a senior moment at your age cheers, Richard
  14. Hi James, Are you sure they a Commer Q4's? Q4 was not bodied as an ambulance nor a gun tractor from memory. Sounds more like a Fordson 3E (ambulance) or 4E (LAA gun tractor), they were known as "Commer cab" Fords as the cab shell was same as the civilian Commer QX forward control lorries. Or to put it simpler, a Commer Q4 has a bonnet and a Fordson E has engine under the cab. regards, Richard
  15. Hi Martin, Here is a 12v coil withthe acorn fitting for HT lead, as you are using the old wire cored ignition lead if I recollect. http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/92/category/19 regards Richard
  16. Hi Raeme, Good to have you join us. Interesting conversion for the Jimmy, is that a 6-71 Detroit or a 4-71 ? regards, Richard
  17. Hi John, To be honest I had forgotten about this and cannot remember now who contacted me, I know the chap was from Belgium and had no luck from his local JCB dealer over there, looking back at my original post from middle of last year, it seems he was after a workshop manual and parts list. CD form would do I think. May have to wade back through my emails for this! Let me see if I can trace the email and see if he is fixed up if not I will get back to you. Thanks. regards, Richard
  18. While on my recent travels, I was given a 2013 calender issued by the Dept. of Veteran Affairs (Australian Government). The theme is a Century of Casualty Care, and I have just seen a photo taken on the Menin Road during WW1, showing a good view of what appears to be a Thornycroft J in the ditch. The photo is very clear and lorry look quite new. Below is a snap form my mobile, will try and scan when I can.
  19. That was a bargain, and they can be dismantled to clean the contacts as they usually only suffer from that.
  20. Good find and it is an early one with brass lamp bezel and metal lamp switch knob, they were made well in to post war times and knobs and bezels were changed to plastic, but interchangeable.
  21. Hi Chris, I do not have a manual on the Diamond wrecker, but no doubt someone will come up with the details. I have come across the problem before, of an army wrecker crane not having enough rope on the hoist when working over the side below ground level, that is why it came to mind. best regards, Richard
  22. Most obvious explanation to the larger drums is due to the mountain roads in Switzerland and needing more rope to reach vehicles that have gone down the side of a road.
  23. Hi Terry, Good to see you have made it on here! regards, Richard
  24. Hi Tim, I think the location could be the RAF MT Repair Depot at Harlescott near Shrewsbury. It would appear to have closed around 1932 according to Hansard. Shrewsbury was a railway centre, so its seems a good location to bring equipment in and was the only depot rebuilding RAF kit at that time I believe. Richard
