  1. Problem is with the money well known personalitys are being paid to promote the vehicle you won't see a bad review. The first time a dashboard light comes up, say three weeks after purchase, the value will halve as you couldn't afford the main dealear cost of turning it off.
  2. JLR seem to have gone very Prissy about the comments on the New Defender- With the DNA of the original! Don't seem to like the suggestion that what they really have is a Mutant Strain.
  3. Try Rob Zero Five Two. He has a Routemaster under his care.
  4. Could be one the pair of Tylor engines used in the Whippet tank.
  5. It was one of the Replica - Done by Morris at the time , and bought new by his Farther in Aberdeen.
  6. A friend of mine at college had the Minor 1,000,000 .
  7. Has made me think the old Moggy is an iconic vehicle. Asociated with Bomb disposal, Distric nurses, Police panda cars, the GPO and the wheels falling off. 😀
  8. I'd love to know what you think might cure! Though :
  9. Even if you had to hunt around in a large area to find it? 😀 Subsequent filling cof the surface can create problems .
  10. Yes, but the mind wanders with age. 😵
  11. The book Malta Convoy had a great effect on me at the age of about 12. I have always tried to live up to the example those men set. Famous, Fabulous , Never to be Forgotten. The litle Flower Class Corvettes and the trawlers did fantastic work especially on the Artic Convoys. Lilliput Fleet and Shetland Bus, well worth reading.
  12. 😲🤮 My first Series 1 was £150!!!
  13. If you have a local Toolstation, they are often cheaper than independents, and have better stock in my experience than Screwfix.
  14. If we are going into shipping- The Tribal's- They must be the most beautiful vessels ever built- Is HMCS Huron still on Lake Ontario? As a kid I remember the old AFV Black Shark being in St Aubin's Harbour for years. Also LST's in the mid to late 1960's being used to ship power station armatures onto St Aubin's beach. For many years DUKWs were used to take tourists from the slip at Bel Royal out to Eleizabeth Castle which stands at the entrance to St Helier harbour. Whilist hobboling down memory lane- Austin K3 and Bedford MW's parked up along the harbour wall with round tubs of Jersey Royal potatoes waiting for the Mail boat. All the vehicles were painted a uniform Admiralty Grey.
  15. Bit Gaudy for me, maybe an advert in the Essex Bling Advertiser? Just a thought- 'We have spent MILLIONS of roubles and thousands of hours of the finest craftsmen - Sorry PEOPLE- on a replica- And now you! You ******** come up with this!!
  16. For rust treatment I would recommend Vactan. It is the stuff the MOD use. Very easy to apply and despite the inital cost is very economical in use. When dry it leaves no sticky residue and can be painted over easily. For chassis etc, I use black roofing paint, again much cheaper than 'Specalist' treatment and just as durable. Allow the cost for something to treat the inside of box sections as well. 1970's the MOD changed to an Eggshell finish- This is easier to decontaminate the the old matt finish. On military vehicles the purpose of paint is First -~Protection of metal - Second camouflage - THIRD- Cosmetic finish, so perfection is not only unesscary, but you can claim wrong! I have a very understanding - They need to be- local Dulux colour centre. They mix Dulux metal finish , with an egshell additive to colour match samples I take in. It is a also a very durable finish and can be brush or sprayed.
  17. I was recently recommended a home made brew of 50/50 parrafin and ATF. Works a teat.
  18. Yes there were sand couloured jerry cans in Normandy. I was given two that had been liberated by a farmer's father in 1944 . They were and always had been sand.
  19. That's the beast! The Mk1 had the acelerator in the middle, the battery was by your right shoulder, and the side view non existent. Such fun to drive. 😀
  20. Thanks to the influence of Matchbox and Corgi, has to be the Quad.
  21. The Highway code is not law, but may be quoted in law as description of best practice. That's what I was taught. On the matter of driving to the road conditions , let me share with you last Tuesday, my Perfect day. As you know I drive a bus currently around an area whwere the main road signs are Width not to exceed 6' 6'' Except for acess. Incedentaly the lanes also provide a short cut to A2 and M25,. So one part is single track with passing places and a nasty bend into it that narrows around the bend. I always keep in the hedge and creep around it. Then coming towards me , the Mercedes SUV snow white, with black roof. Driven by blonde, with sun bed tan, dark glasses, despite the rain, white dress.- and coffee cup in left hand. Sees me hits the brakes, cup tips forward, lid flies off- and a lovely brown wave follows the lid. 😂
  22. Or it was easy to find when they went nose down. 😀
  23. That is nice work. Looking forward to see ing more. I envy you your skill.
  24. Though why do they build roundabouts, then plant bloody great trees and shrubs on them so the visibility is reduced to the point you can't actually SEE what the traffic is doing?
  25. The last time I got a set of 'New' plates for Katy, actually it was her old English number that hadn't been reissued, The DVLA sent me a letter authorising the manufacture. I took it to my local Halford's. Took a few days as she is inttiled to black and white ones. They had none of the required markings, country, manufacturer etc that modern plates need. Best suggestion: Ask your local plate maker what they want.
