  1. Looking at aviation events, although there isn't much listed yet, I am considering the weekend of the 3rd & 4th July 2010, does that conflict with any other historic military events?
  2. Just checked Popham's Event page on the website and the following dates are unavailable 1st Jan, 11th April, 1st+2nd & 3rd May, 9th May, 12th+13th June, 11th July, 8th August, 19th August, 22nd August, 12th September, 18th+19th September, 10th October
  3. Hi Everyone Well at last a decision has been made to go ahead with another H4H event at Popham Airfield in 2010. No date has been decided yet but I would like to miss out August as the armed forces aren't readily available to help in that month due annual leave! One member has suggested a two day event with a 40's style dance etc on the Saturday evening - is that 'do-able'? Can 'Plain Invasion' be accomodated into the event? Let me have your thoughts (if you have any!) Chris.
  4. Hi Tony Thanks for the comments and that is what a lot of people have said to me 'they had a nice laid back afternon in the sun enjoying what was going no around them'. It makes sense to combine the two events as they are so close distance wise and once a decision has been made by myself and my team as to whether we are going to do it again in 2010 (i think it is highly likely that we will) perhaps we can start getting our heads together and make the most out of both events. Another HMVF forum member has also had some great ideas so perhaps we can all get together somewhere, sometime and discuss how best we can put together a pretty spectacular miitary show in the South.
  5. Thanks for everything that you did Paul re this event, this was the first time that I had ever organised an event on this scale, usually beach BBQ's for colleagues etc and have learnt an awful lot. A decision will be made in September whether we repeat the day next year, so rather than the 6 weeks we had this year, we give ourselves 12 months or so to ensure that everything is in place to make sure we can maximise the full potential of the location. The date is likely to be moved to September as this will ensure availablity of current armed forces equipment and personnel to attend. The day was all about raising money for the Help 4 Heroes cause and, preliminary, I can say that £3839.01 was raised on the day. Thanks to all the guys that gave up their time to come along and display for the public and I hope to include you in a bigger better day in 2010! Chris.
  6. Less than one week until the first Help 4 Heroes Charity Day at Popham Airfield, earlier in this thread a couple of members mentioned supporting this event but haven't got back to me yet to confirm. Can I ask that anybody that is thinking of coming along to let me know so I can organise complimentary entry to the event.
  7. The big day is fast appraoching now and Big Red One has been great organising a few guys to come along and support the event but are anymore of you going to be joining us. If so please let me know and I can send a complimentary car pass to you. Don't forget to bring the family as well!! Hope to see some fo you there Chris
  8. Paul/All Just heard back from the Airfield manager and yes, camping on the Saturday night will be fine as will deacts! Chris
  9. Paul/All I have contacted the airfield manager at Popham just to enquire about the 'deacts' and confirm that camping overnight will be permitted. You will know as soon as I do. Let me know if you will need a hand preparing, I shall be there with a few work colleagues preparing the site and more than happy to lend a hand Chris
  10. I will enquire and let you know here, I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem though! Watch this space! Chris
  11. Paul It will be an all day affair, I shall be on-site by 0730 with some colleagues so if you need a hand with anything let me know, I shall also be there Saturday afternoon to prepare the site and help the fun fair people set up and I believe that a few pilots are arriving Saturday as well. I don't mean to be stupid but what is a 'deact'? Chris
  12. Hi Ashley Yes I do tour with friends but 20 years ago some were still in nappies! Chris
  13. No I haven't Robert, thanks for the tip will contact them now Are you clever enough to bring both!!!! Chris
  14. Thnx Tony, hope I can add some of my own humour to the forum!
  15. Thank you so much for the offers of support already. I am hoping to have a number of Austers and Piper Cubs in British Military markings present plus at least one Piper Cub and a 'Mustang' in American Military Markings at the event so it may be possible to stage two different areas of re-enactment Don't forget with everything else that is going to be happening to bring your families along too! Chris
