  3. Do you wanrt brown sauce Lee? :cool2: Never has ben a vehicle show really, and seems to be getting smaller? I'll be down there but not exhibiting doing support work for the 10th Essex trench. May well take the Dodge though, she likes the day out and is easier to leave on site during the day with the kit in.
  4. Lucky being near Wroughton! I used to be down Marlbourgh way :-D That was back in the days when they first came up with the 'Magic Roudabout. Diary note : Day three, made it to the centre, have we enough fuel to get to the other side?

  12. Does anyone know where I can get a new canvas for a wood framed folding bed? The wood work is perfectly sound, the canvas has gone rotten. Maybe a new product for Jack? They are as comfortable as the modern metal and plastic but look so much better in the WW2 or ealier context.
  13. Have you tried the valave length adapters used on trucks and vans? They are prety malleable
  14. You can practice by threading needles in the dark! :-D
  15. They were used later in the crossing of the Scheldt eastuary. The reason for all of Hobart's Funnies, was for specific purpose. The DD was because a gun tank was considered esential in the first wave. LVT (Didn't the British call them Buffalo?) didn't mount the firepower. Also the early version didn't have a ramp, so jumping over the side made you a sitting target. If you also consider that Normandy was landing onto a flat beach, unlike the Pacific Atolls, and LCI could get more men in faster and out of the boat via the front ramp quicker. LCI were also easier to build en mass, and probably a lot cheapear.
  16. Been thinking about this one. The Battle for Tilly Sur Seulles crossroads. Bettwen 7th and 26th /June 1944, the villiage changed hands some twenty times. One in ten of the population were killed. http://battlefieldsww2.50megs.com/tilly_sur_seulles.htm
  17. Better to completly replace any wire that has cooked. Never know what may have happned futher down the cable.
  18. The forgotten Army, and forgotten war. Nothing like the celebrations for D- Day. Even on the 60th VE and VJ were dumped together.
  19. And what's so bad about another Bedford?:-D Hiabs for the British Army normally have an A if I rember right, aftewr the serial number. They are very helpful company.
  20. If you have room, don't forget the split bean tin a load of exhaust paste, and a couple of Jubille clips! :-D Works wonders as a tempoary repair. Bonus is as it is meatal to metal, goes through MOT!
