  1. Hi I would love to attend this year and have no problem getting down to the show but have no way of getting back without resorting to public transport. My problem is I need to be back in Swindon to work Sunday night. Just wondered if anybody was going back that way ? If I didn't have to be at work for 22.00 I would wing it and rely on the train service. Still might. An offer of a lift to the closest station would be very helpful. Cheers Corin.
  2. Couldn't agree more strongly and looking forward to returning. On arriving very late friday night we were still guided to our pitch by helpful and extremely courteous staff even though booking in had ended hours before. The next morning having not made it to the booking in tent, armbands were brought to us! As the weekend went on we were made to feel nothing less than extremely welcome. If all shows were like this there would be a lot of very happy exhibitors/ vehicle owners etc. Cheers for a great weekend. Corin
  3. Just realised what a stupid mistake I made. I obviously meant Rolling Thunder and apologise if any offence was taken. It certainly wasn't intended. Result of posting the wrong side of midnight. Sorry.
  4. Thanks again Mark. It was a shame as we planned to make it much different to how it ended up. We had planned earthworks forming a trench and mortar pit and were planning to live in it as much as possible during the day. However being so far away we didn't have any thing like the interest and enquiries we had enjoyed in 2009 so spent much of our time walking around the show instead talking to all we met along the way. we'll see what happens next year. Here's a group pic while on one of our wanderings through the woods.
  5. As a group returning for our second official year expecting some space in the living history field we were let down again. Last year we were welcomed in by Rolling Thunder who had been advised to take our allocated space but graciously moved giving us about 50% of what we expected. Which was actually more than enough, thanks guys , especially french john who was the recipient of the relocation. This year we were just too late again (tuesday/wednesday ?) We ended up two fields away between lovely Pinzgauer owners and some Dutch who have probably helped me shorten my livers life even better than I. We were hoping to up the ante and field a better representation but felt a little robbed of the oppurtunity. Getting to the point, we most likely , like others could have fitted in if traders were excluded and relocated over the road. As sure as I am that the organisers feel the need for some fluidity over the way they allocate space in this area, i feel they should recognise the expectations and feelings of groups like ourselves who have spent 12 months planning and anticipating only to feel effectivly disregarded purely because we can't be present a week ( or is it two ) before it all kicks off. Am I alone?
  6. Thanks Andy , as i thought I had visited your groups site before, that shakedown event looked nippy. The choice of period came from Baz who originally posed me with the question of 'shall we start......?' to which i obviously said yes. He is an avid restorer and collecter of french post war jeeps and other vehicles. He is currently working on restoring a panhard AML60 armoured car with the help of of a second donor vehicle. I and my mate Jonas were attracted by the lack of representation of this period/ nation and the ease of getting original uniforms on a very manageable budget. Our stuff is all original and a fraction of the cost of most ww2 repro kit. Yup we're tightasses alright! Weapons on the other hand is a different story/cost.
  7. It certainly does. I think it gets it's own calendar every year if you can believe that? You actually get used to it pretty quick. Either that or you get hurt pretty quick. And yes I am no distance from Wroughton at all.
  8. By the way our efforts can be found on the site willyshotchkissjeeps.com on the diary page.
  9. Thanks Mark Is very encouraging to hear someone has noticed our group. We are a small friendly bunch who don't like to get too serious too often except on the stuff that matters. I will be following that link to take a look at your site to see what you guys get up to.
  10. Hi my name is corin and reside in the fantastic hotbed of action it isn't, Swindon. I am principally a living history enthusiast being a member of our small but keen to expand group the French Army Re-enactment Group. We currently concentrate on the Indo China and Algerian conflicts immediately after ww2. If anyone's interested please contact me.
