  3. Get a couple of scaffold poles at desired length, put a slot in one end and bolt the tapered end of an old car spring in.
  4. I have found a small jack hammer or air chisel is very helpful with spilting rims. Put a blunt chisel around the centre divide and shake the *** out of it.
  5. On the other hand a Supercat is smaller, cheaper . more economic, easier to park.... Know where I can get one?
  6. With no roof or doors? Depends on the weather! :-D
  7. Welcome Clive, offering help is asking for troubles!
  8. Doing a quick search. 1952 was the year a lot of reorganisation was done for the US units in Europe. Even so that is now sixty years ago. A lot will have happned to the old ladies in the mean time. At least with a stretched cab there is room for a baby seat.
  9. Just can't keep away from them can you? 1952 seems to be a good year for rebuilds.
  10. Make allownaces! Remember his Trauma a while back!
  11. A head is a head, the words check and re torque are universal. :-D
  12. Might well be worth re torquing all the head bolts again. There are some very good add in head/block sealants available now.
  13. Bear in mind there were five 'German armies', one from each of the main states that formed Germany. I do belive face hair was compulsory in some units.
  14. Fine, OK, just come along quietly! Bet the camera crews were glad when that was over. I fel a bit sorry for the two poor sods trying to hang on to the WC54's windscreen
  15. Another reason to avoid one! http://www.g503.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=77299&start=15
  16. One of ny neighbours, an EX RAF Bomber Command Squadron Leader won everlasting infamy by running the wheel of a Cessna 172 along the roof of a parked car during one Jersey Air Display, does that count? :-D
  17. When the view above the windscreen is green, Panic!
  18. Re timing is not difficult, but you do need a good timing light, and none are that cheap. The manual will have the timing marks in it.
  19. No, so the distributor stays in place?
