  1. Bob I know! I had my ordinary vehicles with a firm with a Nautical flavour. Last year the raised the qoute £145! I thought FONI (Faff off, Not Intrested) Went to the old foggy special (SAGA) saved £360!
  2. Thanks Chris, the number sounds like a bad strike. Any chance you can post a picture of it? I have seen rather badly struck numbers occasionally. Unless the serial was put over some other component mark.
  3. First question, are you sure it is a Webley and not an Enfeild? The two are so close that Webley sued Enfeild for patent infraction. There were a number of chnges to the Webley throughout production. With many earleir types upgraded to newer standards. So your Webley Mark 6 should have A) A six inch barrel, B) Removable foresight C ) A squarer cut grip. Internal there were redesigns of the lock for manufactuering speed. So lock parts are unique to this mark. Although described as .455 the actual bore is .441. The Mark 6 becane a sealed pattern on 24th May 1915. They were replaced in Army service in around 1929/30 by the Enfeild models in .38, which were again blatant copies of a Webley design.
  4. The other way to judge speed is the colour of the passengers face, and their grip on the dashboard. A QL is a mule not a Thourghbred. It just keeps going regardless, but at it's own pace.
  5. The question I was asked about my son Tom , was 'Does he have his own car, insured in his own name?'. The answer is yes, no problem. Thats Premium Choice, again through KGM.
  6. If she is mistreated! Just remember, we know where you live! :cool2: Yes, one of the reasons Phil let her go is he's convinced your a good Gaurdian for her.
  7. Known Phil since Pontious was a pilot. Our vehicles have displayed together in UK and Normandy for years. http://goldbeach.org.uk/
  8. You do have to cut the rear bumper about bit to fit the top of the ladder to a Disco. On the Classic, you either take off the original plate or just drill through and bolt the ladder on. Another way I've seen is to cut down the Dixon Bates ladder , reweld the supports, then you only have one or two holes to mount the plate.
  9. I will now have a picture of Richard doing a Poor Man's NASA in my head all day! :-D The Dodge has two curved slots for the distributor timing, one for 'Coarse' the other for 'Fine'. I used all the fine adjustment to get back to where I wanted. I've read the Octane adjustments in the manual, but was there a master list or such of the settings, or was it wiggle till works?
  10. Not me, Degsy! But out of intrest how far can you retard the timing before a petrol engine would stop? I've finally got around to checking the Timing on My WC54 Katy, initial timing showed 22 deg before TDC. Now at 7 before thanks to Phil P's advice, and it starts easy! :wow: And why would you go past TDC?
  11. It is said: The only man with honest intentions to enter Parliment, was Guy Fawkes! :-D
  12. Welcome, I had a Dixon Bates on my Range Rover for many years, it's now on the Discovery. To fit to a Range Rover is easier than the Discovery, the holes all line up. Good sense as you can have NATO and a50mm ball with civillian tow ring combination, and tow anything. Easy answer, depending on weight of trailer, is if you can fit Land Rover rims to the trailers, fit smaller tyres. I've done this with a Sankey as it spends all it's time behind the Disco or Son's 110 and never a problem.
  13. I stick to RASC badging now. To wear infantary badges would be ridiculous at my age. (Should be Home Gaurd very soon)
  14. There was obviously thought for the drivers comfort. :-D Also give you an idea of when it was built.
  15. The owners prefer the location not to be posted. But yes it is Bedford based. The trucks are a Peterbilt in front and a Militant. Not a lot is known about it, there were plans for a Command Version as well, but weteher it was ever built or not is the question. From Gordon's decription sounds like the same vehicle.
  16. They do make a nice bang.:-D I know a live firing version.
  17. A prototype vehicle, never entered srvice, but now in the hands of a group who will restore it.
  18. Welcome Gordon, What's your particular intrest?
