  1. I've got you beat Tony. When I was haggling over the price of my Welbike. The guy swayed me by throwing in a Parabike for another £100. This was about 16 years ago though. He found all this stuff during visits to India. He also found my original Big 4 side car body in India. We've been friends ever since ( I did offer to marry him!!!???). His Dad wrote the book "From Welbike to Corgi" . I'm not stating what these Parabikes should sell for, merely what others are asking for them.. Ron
  2. I have seen unmolested examples at the W&P show with a £2000 price ticket. But have a look at the prices a dealer is asking here in UK. http://www.stuart-bray-motorcycles.co.uk/ Ron
  3. Ah it's a small world. Ron
  4. Early machines were supplied in Khaki Green. Service or Earth Brown was introduced from 1942. Then Olive green for 44. Ron
  5. Simon the ML carried on in production till 1948 I think and were very much the same as the WD version except with civy paint and a few refinements. I have no knowledge of the later civy James's. There might be some information here. http://www.simplywizard.co.uk/folders/level3/ml.htm Ron
  6. These ML wheels seem to be very illusive. I know a couple guys looking for them. And another forum member has given up on his wheel less ML project after years of searching and bought another complete bike. Ron
  7. Well done Marnic. I forgot about Frederik. He does have some quite good repro stuff. Ron
  8. Oliver what has been cut from your down tube is just a flat plate with two staggered 1/4" holes for the two spring clips. Again you can use Ariel clips which are different and I'll post a picture of those also (3rd pic). The top clamp should be easy for anyone with milling equipment to fashion from a solid block. The correct colour for a bike of this year would have been 'Khaki Green' but this is another debate about what is or isn't correct. But with different firms supplying it to different manufacturers, the shades could have varied enormously. Anything from a light to a dark greeny brown. Whatever is pleasing to ones own eye I feel. Ron
  9. Quite right Oliver. The 3SW and 5SW field stand was an add on feature. The 3HW had it as a welded on lug. A field stand from an Ariel W/NG is almost identical (from John Budgen) but I think these also have the brazed on lug. Here is my 3SW. Ron
  10. Yes I think the 741 bars should fit the 640. I've made a start on next door. I already own the bottom of their garden where my workshop is. Ha Ha. Ron
  11. Bugger! now you tell me! Have you got a 741 kick start? This one is also off a Chief I think and I've also had to bend it to suit, but I don't really like the look of it. But to save even more time in the future. Could you dump all your spares at my place please. Ron
  12. Talking of Chiefs! When I came to fit the crash bars that came with this 741 project....they were far to big. Obviously off a Chief! So I've cut and shut them and re-bent the bottoms to suit.....What a job!! Ron
  13. Lex those 1944 Chiefs are in Steve's book.Supplied in American spec for India. Bring the C10 when you want! Ron
  14. I'm not quite sure what you mean Lex? Here are the latest pix from my shed!! Ron
  15. I know Axe well but I don't think he has a Corgi? Also I don't think he responds on the WD M20 site, but it's still worth an off topic shout. Ron
  16. I'm sure Peter Miller will know. He wrote the book "From Welbike to Corgi" and has both models. PM me for his email address. It's well worth buying his book if you haven't already. Ron
  17. I can't confirm as I also know little about Corgi's. But original pictures and drawings seem to show a similar crude twist grip to the Welbike??? Ron
  18. Please stay away from the Indian made forks unless you have a penchant for hospital food. Their forks are not jigged properly and the lugs are made from cast iron instead of the correct steel. Ron
  19. If you are looking for 3SW Triumph forks....They look like this. The later 3HW's were fitted with Webb forks. Ron
  20. It's Royal Enfield. However the mudguard looks like it might be Triumph.... Need to see more of it. The top front spindle has the fixing buttons for the later side check springs but there are no provision at the lower damper spindle for the springs. There is very probably a frame number in the nearside head stock. Here is my WD/C. Ron
  21. Funnily enough Steve. Mike (now 87) who runs our " Indian Riders Club" used to buy ex WD Indian's when you could buy them for 30 quid. He gave me a contract plate that came from one. But it's steel and virtually un-readable. Ron
  22. Here is mine. Mid Brunswick Green....I think? But I can't find the tin right now to check for a code number. Ron
  23. Well it's strange that the chap who started this thread has not bothered to respond further. I might as well fill up some space with a couple more pictures of the one that I am restoring. I've got the wiring all done and waiting for another parcel of parts from Germany before the final push. Ron
  24. Darren you seem to be missing the ball races and locking ring. The ring has two holes in it for a special tool to locate for tightening it up, but I used a small punch on mine. If you send that picture to Welbike UK I'm sure they'll know what parts you need. If you google Rob Van Meel, he sells reprint manuals and parts lists (unfortunately the welbike lists are not illustrated). Also buy a copy of 'From Welbike to Corgi' Revised edition by Peter Miller. I can give you his email if you PM me. Ron
  25. Give Jake a shout. He's supplied them to me before. http://www.jake-robbins-vintage-engineering.co.uk/ If not, let me know and I'll measure mine. Yes 6 required. There are none on the damper spindle. For adjustment, as long as you can swivel at least one washer on each spindle is good enough. Ron
