  1. Indian 741 No.2 Frame No. 741-27267. Heres how the bike looked when she was wheeled out of its 30 odd year hidey hole! Luckily the last owner kept all the original parts :goodidea: :thankyou:. will get some current pictures at the weekend.
  2. yep see what your saying, i like the idea of a spit :naughty:, I was going to brace the cab in all directions before cutting about the rot, i will build a sturdy frame to bolt the cab to using the three cab mounts then weld/bolt some bracing in place. fingers crossed it will all fit back together again Baz
  3. of course i did, honest! :naughty:
  4. Dodges or Pictures? :dunno: Dodges = 1 weapons carrier 1 command car. Loads of photos!
  5. Nice pictures, heres one of my father in laws command car whilst working on a certain film, can you guess which one?
  6. Well i'm about ready to take the cab of my Bedford OXC, i want to build a jig/stand to sit the cab on whilst its off the chassis for three reasons 1, to hold it together! 2, to enable the welding/woodwork to be sorted without twisting the cab. 3, so i can move it around the barn without the use of a forklift or several mates. Has anybody else built a similar jig/stand for a OY,OX, MW cab or have any dimensions to give me a head start? Cheers Baz
  7. Hang on a minute...........here's another one! Maybe this is the fighter variant!!
  8. yellow/blue with 80 - HQ supplies, RASC post war (circa 1946-47) XII red black red with dragon - 12th Army 66CRASC - 66th command of 12th Army, according to my Grandad the 12th was split into two in 1945, the 66th command went to Rangoon the 64th to Singapore. White Circle - South East Asia corp My grandad explained every detail of the markings for me, when i done the markings he was chuffed to say the least :-D Cheers Baz
  9. Nice to see another jeep with the "forgotten army" markings, nice one :-D My Jeep has the 12th Army markings which my grandfather served with from 44 to 47. The book "The wartime Jeep in British service" has some great pictures of jeeps in Burma. You need a whte circle on the bumper for SEAC. Baz
  10. I hope so too, there are more vehicles to join the fleet, including a chieftan and an Abbot.
  11. Hey Baz,.......I DO work for the NHS. :-D how do I get a look see, PM me, if its a delicate situation. ;-) nothing delicate, its the park and ride car park for QA hospital in Cosham!
  12. not open to the public at the moment, unless your working for NHS!. Fort Nelson is very similar and just down the road, http://www.fareham.gov.uk/town/activities/places/fortnelson.asp We are going to see if they will let a few enthusiast have a poke and nose day, will let you know. Baz
  13. Portsdown Hill, south of Southwick (of D-Day fame), North of Portsmouth :-) for more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Southwick
  14. I was lucky enough to get an unofficial tour of Fort Southwick today where the pounds collection has a new unusual type of display along with the giant toy railway. the fort is being used as a park and ride for the NHS at the moment and the car park has been decorated with the vehicle collection, cool :-D I spent most of my childhood playing in the fields around the fort and lived within a stones throw in the sticks near Southwick. It was amazing to see the tunnels, original and ww2 (boy they are deep!) having spent years looking at the shaft entrances in the fields on the farm my dad worked on. I love the matchstick men painted on the steps, exactly how we felt!!! Baz
  15. CP lubricants in southampton should be able to help, i have used them for a while and they have always been really good. usually if they dont have what you need on the shelf the guy will blend it for you or get it in within a day or so. i had a similar problem with SAE50 for the Indian, they had a 25 litre drum on the shelf for £40, sweet :-D http://www.cplubricants.co.uk/classic.htm Baz
  16. GET ON WITH IT  borrow another jeep for the weekend, it will make you want to get on with your own :-D
  17. thats the one. His canvas is fine, never driven it in the rain though :dunno:
  18. A hard top! and plenty of silicone!! i've used canvas waterproofer from a camping shop before, worked ok, but dont get it on the paint work, made a nasty stain! a friend of mone uses brick waterproofer from B&Q :-o swears by it, but i'm not convinced. i have seen adverts for a canvas treatment that is coloured to restore the look of the canvas, but have not used it and can't for the life of me remeber where a saw it.
  19. Indian 741 Left hand twist grip = throttle right hand twist grip = advance/retard Left foot pedal = clutch right foot pedal = rear brake right hand = gear stick and front brake left hand = mixture adjustment and wasp removal from helmet!!! rigid frame no dampers on seat springs damping non existant on front forks weighs a ton and vibrates like a cross between a jack hammer and a chainsaw need i say more? I LOVE IT, its brilliant:-D :-D :-D
  20. Tbilisi, Georgia.......cow on the back seat of Volga, made me laugh for weeks
  21. We just done the brakes on the bren, not to bad a job, tracks off (easy job with removable pin), shafts out, hubs off etc. The axle is pretty much the same as any trauck axle but with sprockets on them. we didn't have the correct tool to hold the tracks togehter whilst removing the pin and to get them back together again, but got away with using a couple of ratchet straps. it took a few fiddly hours to get them adjusted correctly after but it seems ok (though we have not actually driven it yet!) we did not get them relined but that should not be a problem as long as you know the original thickness, i usually use Kimber friction in Southampton to re line odd ball shoes, they can be a bit funny about removing the old linings if they dont k now what materials are in them, but i usually do that part for them. Baz
  22. maybe, maybe not! most are probably disguised as ww2! and 101st airbourne at that
