Clive Hughes in West Sussex can help out a lot with items such as storage boxes, exhuasts, seats, brackets, straps and most bolt on fixings, even the armour i believe. They are not original parts but he does a superb job reproducing items. Also a friend of mine had some front wings made recently by another local guy, very very good copies using the originals as a pattern from the Bren that i am restoring. Many Mechanical parts are not too bad as they are standard ford/fordson truck parts, i.e. engine, box, diff, Clutch, Starters, Dynamo, Water pumps etc. Get in touch of you need some help, as me and my dad are half way through restoring a MK2 canadian bren and have learnt a lot so far, there are a few Bren owners that i have met up with who have helped a huge amount. Once again an excellent weekend, well done and many thanks to the folks that put all the hard work in organizing the show :-) Intresting entertainment in the beer tent :-0, how do they stick those tassles on? The rain finally turned up monday morning and did it's best to wash horndean away!

American vehicles do suffer the same problem, certainly the Dodge tanks that i have repaired in the past had excatly the same trouble. I believe that R Cubed had a similar problem with his GMC fuel tank? be very careful with the tank sealer, i have seen it used to extremes in a dodge 1/2Ton! the tank was lined with about 3/4" of tank sealer! it was fine unitl the truck was used then it started braking off in large chunks causing havoc! Friend of my dads served in Malaya a few years back with the engineers, here are some great pictures he took of a heavy transporter that fell off a bridge, or maybe the bridge fell over not sure. What vehicle is it? looks like a MACK front axle and grill but just doesn't seem to be right to me! Any way i know one of you smarter folk will help me out. Bazza

well i'm finally back on the go! (yeah yeah took a while!) The problems went on and on! After rebuilding the motor and and getting at all back together things did not go swimmingly! first there were fuel problems, dont know how but managed to get some water in the carb! then it would not run right once off choke, lots of head stratching, checking and rechecking found a crack in the inlet manifold! then the carb started playing up and needed a rebuild. After all this its finally running ok, woohoo :-). So i took her out around some gentle green lanes near Petersfield! whoops seems the heavy rains have washed the lane out and i got the old gal stuck fast at a very steep angle drivers side down! (and the carb could not cope!) with the help of my brothers jeep we got out only to find that the only way out of the lane had been washed out just as bad! nevermind a couple more battle scars to go with the rest! Anyway glad to be back on the road again and looking forward to summer of rain! Bazza

Managed to get another day pass today! 1, Cab well and truly off at long last, glad i got the replacement cab as the original one is a tad on the rotten side. 2, Brake master cylinder and servo off (all the pipes came undone!) 3, Manifold, water pump, thremostat housing off. I want to kiss the person who built this engine! everything had a generous smothering of copper slip making life a whole lot easier, love youXXXX 4, Cylinder head off, WOW! the bores are like brand new :-) see why the engine would not turn as one valve was seized wide open. the only problem is with No.6 as the liner has some rust in it. i been told that liners are readily availabe so new liners all round anyway. 5, all vacuum and air pipes off, again eveything came undone. 6, pedals out, wiring loom removed. 7, Whipped the top of the gearbox..............looks to me like it has never turned a cog! even the oil is brand new SWEET! Quite pleased with the progress over the last two weeks, mainly thanks to the fact everything is coming undone, its really good to see the quality and attention detail that was taken when the vehicle was last rebuilt (by the military probably in 1952). Next on the list is to get the engine out and chassis back to bare bones for blasting :-) Bazza

Where does the time go? Finally managed to get some work done on the Bedford! heres the latest 1, Got me a replacment cab from Pete Gaine, its in very good condition and has saved me about two life times of work! 2, Got all the scammel coupling off the chassis, its no suprise the brits were short of supplies with the amount of bolts holding it all together!!!! 3, the cab is ready for the off, all five hundred levers! removed from the chassis to get the cab off. 4, fuel and vacuum tanks off, trailer brake servo removed. Next the cab will be off and the engine can be stripped. Some piccies to date.
