No stopping me now! Chassis all blsated and come up very nicely, just two spts that need a bit of welding other its in very good condition. Found a chsssis number OX 22442. will do the welding this week and slap a coat of paint over her. The engine is coming back together, got all the parts from Norman Aishe, very helpful. hopefully will have it back in the chassis before too long. Been thinking about colours and markings, possibly a change of mind from gloss green to dessert sand with a north africa unit in mind maybe RAF? not sure just yet!

agree, i went to sabratha last time, and that was amazing, going to try and get to leptis magna next time. Even the Roman toilets were still in one piece! Baz

I was there a couple of weeks back and tried to find out if there was anything to see from the ww2 peiod but only came up with Roman ruins! that was quite amazing, looks like you will know more of the area? I'll treat you to Mango juice and Lamb Algarra! Baz

UPDATE - apparantly this is pure rumour, but it has attracted a fair amount of attention! Please forward this to as many people as possible!!! The world-famous Red Arrows have been banned from appearing at the 2012 London Olympics because they are deemed 'too British'. Organisers of the event say that the Arrows military background might be 'offensive' to other countries taking part in the Games. The display team have performed at more than 4000 events worldwide, but the Department of Culture, Media and Sport have deemed the display team 'too militaristically British.' Red Arrows pilots were said to be 'outraged', as they had hoped to put on a truly world class display for the Games, something which had never been seen before. Being axed from a British-based event for being 'too British' is an insult - the Arrows are a symbol of Britain . The Red Arrows have been excellent ambassadors for British overseas trade, as they display their British-built Hawk aircraft all over the world. The Arrows performed a short flypast in 2005 when the winning bid was announced, but their flypast at the Games was to have been truly spectacular. It is to be hoped that common sense prevails. Just found this picture i took a few years ago in Rustavi, Republic of Georgia, of a russian boat that has the wheels and tow bar built into the structure, it was in very good condition an was apparently going to be done up by the owner. Anyone got any more info on them? Baz

Indian only made 30,000 (possibly up to 33,000) 741's and they were built foir british common wealth forces, but the US goverent cancelled the final order and they never made it to the lend lease deals instaed mostly being up engined to 600cc and sold in the states but not very succesfully! Indian was stitched up. As far as i know the Americans did not use 741's. Harley made three or four times that number of bike for the military in WW2.

Engine and gearbox out, frame nearly stripped bare now! moving house has got in the way!! stripped the motor, No. 6 was siezed solid but the rest of the engine in very good condition. With the ais of a lump of wood and hammer the seized pistion soon came out and after a quick hone the bores are like new again, phew! Norman Aishe has been very helpful with the parts, once back from me olidays will crack on with getting the frame blasted and start rebuiling the motor :-) Baz

Moved house, done the DIY, managed to get a day pass from the missus for the Indian! managed a whole lot today; Manifold and carb mounted and sealed up Throttle twist grip finished (what a pig of a job!) cylinder Heads on Distibutor on and timed up brake light switch mounted front marker light mounted rear lights mounted and wired up ignition switch wired up, amazing how many wires you can getr round a small switch! horn button, hi/lo switch mounted and wired speedo painted ammeter mounted and wired generator stripped for blasting. Then took my other bike out for a ride to make me smile again :-)

This one had a V6 or V8 (cant remember!) Duetz air cooled engine, it was very close fit to the chassis rails and wings. Apperantly it drives very nice. Baz

will be heading over for a week with a few maters, Staying at Camping Le Robinson near Omaha beach (very good campsite been back several times). Will be taking Jeeps, Indians and large gas BBQ! Bazza

I have fired a few engines that sat for many years, one up to 35 years without a problem, although the jeep engine i did a couple of years back had rusty valve seats. All i done was whip the plugs out, pop some oil in and turn over by hand several dozen times to make sure nothing was going to start smacking each other and that oil has been pumped around the engine, then get er going. Did a Ford V8 last summer that had not run for 35 years and it ran a treat, with the aid of a new carb, points and plugs. it all comes down to how the engine has been stored and luck!

That is a shame, Personally i dont see the need for anyone to wear full uniform in the bar of an evening, made worse by not removing head dress!, surely the reenactment is over and the socialising should be in top gear? I had a run in with some of the Axis group a couple of years ago as i felt it was not appropriate for him to be wearing full SS uniform complete with cap, Luger, Bayonet and German Shepard dog in the bar in the evening, the reply i got was to sod off as he was the duty officer so he had to wear full uniform! and he was a policemen (traffic cop i think!). One step too far for my liking. Dont get me wrong i appreciate what they're doing during the day, its intresting to see and i notice the 101st airborne won the battle again! but is there any need to keep it going 24hours a day?
