  1. I seem to remember a bent barrel in A Squadron when a Fox driver failed to watch the vehicle infront.
  2. You could try asking your question here. http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/forums/index.php
  3. Very nice standard Chorehorse Generator produced in various voltages from WW2 untill the 1960's. I assume you do not have a source for more?
  4. It may be the pack which takes two vickers machine gun boxes. Is there a internal divider in the pack?
  5. Obviously a reliable tank because it was based on proven components but really a year late and already inferior to a lot of German Tanks. The stepped front armour did not give as good as protection as sloped armour and the gun was not as powerful as the 17 Pounder.
  6. One of the biggest problems is authentic tread patterns for British vehicles rather than tyre size. If you can source 9.00X16 and 11.00X20 in track grip pattern rather than american bar grip you will have lots of buyers. Unfortunately as Jack has already discovered the one manufacturer is reluctant to supply.
  7. Quite possibly but if the goverments are not willing to sell or the dealers don't think they can make enough profit, they will stay there.
  8. No Carrier in theory would have been taken to Normady in that colour scheme so if nothing else it has had a repaint.
  9. This week I posted a picture of my new Douglas Generator asking for information on its use. My quess was either the Kerrison Predictor or a Radar Unit. No one replied but I note that ackack has already answered the question on page two of this thread and it is for the radar carried in a Light Warning Truck. Unfortunately the chances of finding an original radar unit for your truck is likely to be zero.
  10. Its at the discretion of your local Police Force what security arrangements they decide to impose on your artillery or any other licence. If you live on different sides of the same street in two different counties requirements may differ. In my County only the breech block is required to be kept in a gun safe. In a neighbouring County they want the vehicle locked in an approved building. In another case I have heard about they wanted the vehicle in a high security building with an alarm linked to the local police station. The majority of owners would give up at this stage and not wish to spend the money challenging such a decision.
  11. I picked up a 1200 VA/350W Douglas Generator recently which I am trying to find what it was used for. One suggestion has been the Kerrison Predictor or Radar Sets. The unit is missing its seperate control panel and lead which I am looking for. I am also looking for other Douglas war-time products.
  12. Mine still has the Canadian Decal on the side so presumably saw no service. 90%+ of all the surviving Carriers in the UK are Canadian Mk11* and probably came out of crates.
  13. From memory the Canadian manufactured Power Supply Units have a switch inside to allow you to switch between a 12 and 24 volt supply. I assume the British Army used these in post war 24 volt applications.
  14. A group of us in various Living History Groups arranged a weekend course about 10 years ago. Plans to actually use these skills on wartime radio sets have never materialised.
  15. The comment about checking if Premium Choice have included key insurance and other totally non applicable items to your MV quote is good advice because they had done the same on my policy.
  16. If you are talking about the British version which bolt on the side of the turret, Springfield Sporters in the states did or have original tubes for sale. Exporting however will be a problem.
  17. Its the Ukrainians releasing the German and American small arms on to the market. Russia proper is yet to sell any surplus small arms or armour.
  18. Externally it would obviously be a lot easier to produce something resembling a Firefly than trying to convert an Israeli super Sherman. The existing gun if possible could either be turned down to the dimensions of the a 17 Pounder or a dummy barrel fitted. Having a reliable modern diesel has some appeal. At a sensible price I would not say no but such a thing is highly unlikely.
  19. Hanno Do we know what has hapened to the Argentian Shermans? Are they still in service or long gone.
  20. I assume you like me were in 104 Battalion prior to the recent changes. Are they still happy for you to keep the Bedford at Bordon now the Specialist side has departed?
  21. Looking at the pictures it would appear to be the example in the National Army Museum. Its in the centre of town and is one of the best military museums in the world.
  22. If the vehicle at the Shuttleworth Colection has a hard top on cab I used to own it. It was basically unissued when discovered by the previous owner in a barn with with very low mileage. There was no evidence in the back of it ever having being fitted with any equipment. I get the impression that very few of this version ever made it out of the depots.
  23. That display was put on by the 43rd Recce Living History Group who can be found here. http://www.43rdrecce.co.uk/index.html Both vehicles are now I belive in the states.
  24. Possibly a Russian firemans helmet?
