  1. Ah ha is this the stuff ? If so it is quite dear but you can get it in 5 Ltrs too, says about brushing it on so presume it does not cover very far ?
  2. So for a load of say 20 tons what sort of layout would be needed ie 4x2, 6x2 or 6x4 and with that I suppose the next thing would be engine HP and what sort of speeds would you get ?

  5. Your opinions on good ones bad ones, engines to steer away from, good or bad gear boxes, possibly interested in 60's or 70's 4x2, 6x2, 6x4 are one make better that another make.

  11. Hi all, can anyone out there identify this piece, I am sure someone can and tell me when and where they were used.
  12. Maybe, but the local place I get it from advised me that it is now not suitable for canvas, now I do not know why but suspect it wont repel the water or might even damage the canvas, they have been told by their supplier and have put up a sign on the shelf by it !!!!!! Can anyone find out more info ?
  13. Thought you might all need to take note Thompson's Water Seal has had a Formula change and is now NOT suitable for Canvas. It seems to have changed from spirit based to water based. Take note when buying.....
  14. Would anyone be able to pick up a box approx 100 Kg 15"X15"X30" from High St, Stoke on trent to either shuffle down via members or come on down to Portsmouth or meet at Bolero in a months time ish. 15. I learnt to drive on a Grey Fergie when my Dad managed a farm, had some good times being a kid on a farm, I would say it was the best way to grow up. At the time the farm was taken over the biggest tractor we had was a MF 135, the new owner had more money than sense and bought lots of implements, a seed drill from Ransoms which was sooo wide it would not fit through any of the field gateways, but the best one was a 3 point mounted set of disc harrows which were massive and after being dropped off we decided to move them with the 135, but all it would do when you went to lift the 3 point linkage was to pick the front wheels of the tractor off the ground !!! He then went on to get a MF 165 with multi power  was a bit better but then got another tractor which was a David Brown 1200 that did the the job a treat.... The good old days....

  18. Were any of the later Merlin parts which did not meet air worthy standards get used for the Meteor range of engines ?
  19. The shape of the cylinder heads, is that when they changed the valve steam angle from the 45 deg valve angle to the flat head so the valve steams were parallel to the cylinders ?
  20. Now now come on that would be silly :cool2:
  21. Saw and spoke to Landyandy up at slab common about their Conquer which has an M120 in it, and I thought all the Meteors produced much the same HP but the M120 is quite alot more, this got me thinking about the differences of the Meteor Mk's and then thought that as lots of the Meteor parts were non air worthy merlin parts I wondered if the heads ect were modded as the Merlins were as they ran up to their replacement at the end of the war.
  22. So was the M120 the last model before the Meteors were replaced, was this the highest HP rated Meteor ?
  23. How were the HP increases achieved in the different models of Merlin, I am aware that there was different octane ratings and that the water/glycol % of coolant allowed for a cooler engine rather than 100% glycol made a difference. Were there any mechanical engine alterations Compression Ratio ? ignition timing ? valve size changes ? Supercharger pressures ? different cams ect and how did this affect the engine performance.
  24. The paint he is using looks dark in colour, so could it be that the whole circle is painted solid white, then the star is marked and the outer parts of the area outside the star but inside the circle are then painted green to match the rest of the vehicle colour !!!!
