  1. Hello I have found the BS code for the RAF blue, but does anybody know what colour yellow they used. I have a David Brown tug to repaint for some one and I have to paint the top of the bonnet yellow. Thanks Howard

  3. Yep the back panel is the worst area, Thats where the main part of plating and welding needs to be done but, shouldnt be to much of a problem. Howard
  4. Well I had a spare slot so i managed to get the cab blasted today and sprayed in primer.I can now see where all the welding needs to be done there is not as much as I thought that i thought I would uncover with the blasting.Well thats it for now, will post more as and when it gets done. Howard
  5. Sorry Thread title should read GMC 352 not 353. Well the state of play with the 352 is this I have now removed the body and the fuel tank spare wheel carrier as well as the cab, the cab is in the workshop just about totally stripped out awaiting to sand blasted. There is some welding to be done but all in all its not in a to bad of shape. heres a few pics, Howard
  6. Well here is a Bedford S type bus which I have repainted also fitted new front cheek panels plus other work.I have been told it was used by the civil defence in its time. Its going to be used as motor home, signed up as an AFS vehicle. Howard
  7. Just thought some of you Bedford lovers might like to see a few pics of a bus I have been working on, its been converted into a mobile home, complete with a mollycroft roof Its now just about done just waiting on a few minor parts and some stencils. Howard.
  8. Nice to see you are getting on with the truck, do you know if you have demountable drums, it will make your job of doing the brakes a bit easier. If not its out with the half shafts ect. you may be lucky and find that once you have the drums off that the brakes are in very good order, i know when i stripped mine, apart from the odd spider the inside was very clean.I did take the cylinders off and inspect the inside, but they were in very good order with no rust, I just replaced the seals. I think if you are going through the whole braking system and relacing seals ect, i would change from standard brake fluid over to silicone (DOT5) brake fluid. This of course is up to you. Take a good look at the flexibrake pipes, they may look ok from the outside, but alot of mine had collapsed inside not allowing and fluid through. If its been standing that length of time I would replace them. Better to be safe than sorry.Just watch when you go to reconnect all of the steel pipes inside the chassis that they seal up, they can be a pain sometimes. you will soon see when you depress the pedal if there are any weeps of fluid. There is also a bleed screw on the Hydrovac unit. Well I could go on and on.Here is a pic of my stripped down. well all the best. Howard
  9. Hello Steve great vidio reminds me of when I went to fetch mine, i had to cut a hole in a hedge to get the old girl out onto the road, your truck seemd to run well. Good luck with the restoration and keep those pics comming. All the best Howard
  10. These old trucks do amaze me, the gmc that I fetched back from Hampshire had stood for 11 years and I got her running within a very short period of time, and the clutch wasnt stuck on that. Just put some air in the tires and it drove out of the ruts it had sunk into. Howard
  11. Yes the beeding really does finish it off, the whole truck is looking really nice, you should be very please with your self. Regards Howard
  12. With reference to the canvas piping I used that on mine, but there is a piping available in black plastic, I think the canvas looks better. Howard

  20. Hi I have two of these Bowsers waiting in the line for restoration, well one is for parts and the other is in pretty good nick, they were fiited with an Stationary engine in the front which was connected to a drive shaft which ran the lenghth of the body to the pump at the rear of the Bowser. The hoses were hosed in the side boxs. There should be a dome cover on top of the breather and filler on the top of the tank. I still have mine on the bowser. Howard
