  1. Hello Neil You were right about the Diamond t she was a beast and I enjoyed her but I just could not afford putting in the fuel, so I decided to down size a bit. You will be more than welcome to hitch a ride, thats if she is done by then I hope so.It would be nice to see some more pics of the Jeepest Shop van. Regards Howard.W.
  2. Hello Kevin Thanks for your comments and I am glad you like the project, I sand blasted and painted the chassis on my own, I have had a bit of help when freinds have popped over, but done most of it my self. I wish i could get it all done by July but this will no way happen.Although the body need alot of work if you had all of the materials to hand then I suppose you could get it done fairly quickly.I am hoping to do a bit more more tomorrow will post a few more pics. Regards Howard.
  3. Hello Jeff Got to admit Iam very lucky I have a very large biulding part of it is a purpose built workshop and the rest was a grain store, but this has never been used for that purpose it is just used to store my vehicles and machinary. Howard.
  4. Hello Jeff I am getting there slowly I got the new hand brake band fitted this eavening,as a running chassis cab its almost there, the main work is going to be on the workshop body, its in a rough shape.I have taken one outer skin off one side, only to discover more rot. So i have my work cut out.I am hoping to get stuck into the body in a couple of months.By the way suffolk has been sunny we have had some good hot days, and the countryside is still as nice as ever. Howard.

  7. Hi The head is now going away to be pressure checked if it turns out to be ok,then we will be replacing all of the valve seats and fitting new valves Howard
  8. Well just in from the work shop after stripping the valves from the head. The valves themselves did not look to bad. But some of the seats look in a sorry state, but untill i get the head bead blasted I wont really know if i have to get new valve seats fitted or just use a stone and regrind the seats.Heres a few pics. Howard
  9. Great News After honing out the bores that had water in them, they have cleaned up really well and giving them a good clean out with diesel and a good oil the engine turned over very well. So all efforts are now on the head I have decided to strip all of the valves bead blast the head and lap in the valves. We also drained the sump to check for water and no water however the oil was very thin and smelt of old petrol, the petrol had been getting in from the fuel pump, so this will need to be rebuilt.Well thats it for now. Howard.
  10. Hello ok thanks for that information will let you know how I get on. Howard
  11. I was going to was going to pressure it to about 40lbs and put in bath of water, well that was the idea, if it does not work then It will get sent off to be done. Howard
  12. Iam doing a trailer very similar to that one but looking at the one on the forum the front axle looks fixed, and is not a knock out. My trailer has a large pin through the front and if you jack up trailer taking the weight you can pull out the pin and the front axle will pull out on it wheels. Howard
  13. Hi I have given thought to the head having a crack .I may well make it air tight and do a pressure check on it myself, will have to see what the owner wants us to do. Howard
  14. Hello Snowtrack, A very nice looking workshop bodied GMC I hope mine will look like that one day. Howard.
  15. Got to admit you are right they look ten times better with the Hard cab. Howard
  16. Hello thats fine, glad you are following the restoration, will post more pics as and when i do more to the trailer. Howard
  17. Thanks for the comments, dont know when I will have it finished got other jobs on the go so the trailer is taking a back seat at the moment, Howard
  18. Hi I think I get it you had the engine pressure checked and had the valves reground, I have to admit on this engine the valves looked in very good condition. Howard
  19. Hello, yes this would be the same piping found around seat cushions. Howard
  20. Hi I think I get what you are saying, I did look at the gasket and there was no evidence of the gasket failing. If the owner decides to spend money on the truck then i will get the head looked at to see if there is any cracks. We will also take a good look at the block. Thanks Howard
  21. Hi good idea for the wiring just done all the wiring on the GMC but most of its out of sight so I wont worry about that. Howard
  22. Hi yep I do have some rubber, came off a job I was working on 1 meter wide and 6m long.Smooth on one side and very narrow ribs on the other. It was used for temp flooring to protect the concrete.Ideal for the floor in truck cab or the cargo bed. Howard
  23. Hi sorry you will have to explain whats a master key hair. Howard
  24. Nice one, thats a good idea, I know when i unbolted the running bourds from the bottom of the front wing there was a type of putty in between the two. I was going to use my piping and a squirt of silicone on each side.Or perhaps a flat piece of rubber. Thanks Howard
  25. Hello Willyslancs Thanks for your comments, I dont know if there was piping when they came off the production line, but like you say a good way to finish off the joining of wing to panel. Regards Howard
