  1. I managed to get the connections off all of the batterys and give them a good clean, I have managed to find out the formular for the Electrolyte, so as soon as i make some up I shall flush out the old batterys and refill with fresh Electrolyte. I will keep you posted as to how I get on. Howard
  2. Hello Peter Thanks for the information i managed to download some info which should be a help, i may well have another look at it over the week end if not I will give it a run up on Monday. Thanks Howard
  3. Hello Mike your right the batteries are not the lead acid type, I topped them all up today with water and had them on charge for about 3 hours or so, they did take some charge but they were not getting the full 32 volts they should get. Yet if you put the volt meter on the wires from the brushes you get just over the voltage. Some times on the amp gauge on the unit it would read a charge then a discharge so I plan to investigate more. A friend of mine has said he may be able to get me some more 1.2 volt cells so this may also be a factor.well Thats about it. Howard
  4. Hello Tony I am not to sure how old the batteries are but i have been told that this particular type of Batterie can go on and on. I did put some batt fluid in a coupleof the cells today and sure enough they burst in to life. But i intend to clean them all up and top them all up with Batt fluid and try charging them up. Regards Howard
  5. Hello Richard Yes thanks for that Ive managed to find out alot more about the Delco light it my model was made in the 1920s so its an early engine, i would imagine that the batteries have been changed over the years, but these particular batteries are bullet proof you cant over charge and even run flat they cannot be damaged they are a 1.2 volt cell and there is 30 cells making it 36 volts. If I get any more info i will post it up. Thanks Howard
  6. Well I picked up a small generator today that i bought, its a delco Light, I am not to sure what it was used for or as to the age I am yet to find this out. Well it had been stored away in a barn for 10 years or so according to the owner. After cleaning the fuel tank and the plug and turning the engine over by hand with some oil put down the bore, i decicded to try starting it. well to my amazement it fired up almost straight away kicking out 30 volts on the generator. As you will see it even has the bank of batteries that it had to charge, not to sure what it had to run could it have been a search light of some sort. I f anyone has any ideas please feel free to say. here are some pics. Thanks for looking Howard
  7. Hello Joe any chance of some pictures of the pickfords trailer. Thanks Howard
  8. Well had a good day got the box section fitted and welded in, both jacks have been painted in olive drab, I have tried out the jacks and they work fine , there is no effort needed at all to lower and raise the trailer bed, the jacks are very low geared.I have taken a pic of trailer on jacks with front axle pin knocked out. Well thats about it for now, just have the brake linckage to contend with and a few minor bits and pieces. Howard
  9. Well I have now got all the brackets and mud guards primed and top coated and fitted into position. I have made a start on the two jack legs to lower and raise the front of the trailer so i can knock out the front axle section this is all held in place with one big pin. Here is a couple of pics of the painted mud guards. I will get some pics of the jack legs and with the axle knocked out once all the welding and fitting is completed I hope to have this done monday and tuesday. Howard
  10. Well its been a while but the Dyson trailer has been sand blasted and painted, I managed to get hold of some wheels, these to have been blasted and painted and some new tyres have been fitted. I have managed to make some of the brackets for the new mud guards. All of the brakes have been cleaned and are now in working order.I have started to refit new Hardwood floor boards and just have a few more to fit.I will post a bit more info when more work takes place, I hope to get all of the mud guards fitted tomorrow, once i have done this I can remove them again togeather with the brackets and get them painted. Well thats it for now. Howard

  17. Hello R,Cubed in reply to your question I have sold the workshop body on, it was in need of alot of work, not that I could not have done the work, its finding the time, I started up in bussiness earlier this year,in the form of sand blasting and metal finishing and fitting work. And since starting so far I have been busy, in fact I had someone book in a GMC 353 chassis today for blasting and priming. So alot of my time is going into my business. With regards to my GMC chassis cab it is now up and running and more or less ready to roll. It needs new seat covers and cab canvas but these are on order. Yes it is up for sale can be seen on ebay. But if it does not sell Iam not to worried. Its not priced to give away.Well thats the story hope this helps and explains things. Happy Christmas Howard

  23. hi, yes i have used the same colour from the same batch of paint, and the last tin I am putting an order togeather for some more paint. The colour is an olive drab that some friends of mine use on there US vehicles that the British used during the 40s.The funny thing is the last batch i got was called landrover green, I dont know why because its nothing like it.I know it takes them a while to batch it because they have to taken out the gloss. The paint I use is not a matt finish but more of a sheen finish. you can also use a standard thinner with it. If you are interested I can let you know the price as soon as i give them a ring for a price. The last lot was £35 for 5 litres. Cheers Howard
