    Seat Belts

Good post. It will definately be compulsory if you've got children on board, know quite a few people who have been cauggt out in jeeps & Land Rover's.
  2. You can slide it onto the belt using the loop. Also they have the hanging bracket as per the wartime US gear for hanging off bergens & the like.
  3. S95. Green fleece, green leather gloves. Canadian style buttons S2000. DPM Fleece, black leather gloves. Ripstop or garbadine trousers. 2007. SAS & other units begin to trial Multicam as a replacement of DPM & Desert DPM for Afghan. Peacoc. Trial camouflagues for SAS and other units including webbing & clothing MTP. Introduced 2009 as the first major change in camouflagued material since DPM. Quality is generally poor & you can have three shades of material in one shirt. This will formally replace DPM from 2012. You haven't even touched Desert DPM!
  4. Oh, your so lucky to own these. Put them in the garage. Mount them & put them on the wall in your house. Please, please don't donate them to a museum. A few years down the line they'll skip them or sell them off. If you don't want them give them to me or maybe donate to one of the large re enactment groups.
  5. Definatley not a 44 pattern water bottle cover. This has two lift the dot press studs, not a turn buckle.
  6. Once to goverment has cut the MOD budget this is probably what the forces will look like. :cool2:
  7. You have never been allowed to road register an ex military vehicle on it's service plate. You are issued with an age related plate by the DVLA. It's military number will live on as the military plate with it's number and model type should still be on the seat box or the dashboard. You can get show plates made up with the original military number made up at shows.
  8. Definately not a Sterling SMG pouch. Could be first production of the 58 pattern that had the turn buckle. That would make it an ammo pouch due to the loop at the top. May be South African or similar. Without markings on it, I would think it's foreign as nearly all the British gear is labelled. Check inside, under the lid for ink stamps? Off to do research now.
  9. What happened to restoring vehicles as they would of been? Might as well paint a white star on the bonnet of a Land Rover & called it a Willy's Jeep :nut:
  10. I'll be trying to finish off my Land Rover 90 as Gulf War 1. Need to finish the welding the bulkhead, new fuel tank. Clean up the last bits of paint work, spray & put back together. Hopefully, weather permitting complete by the summer. :-\
  11. Good point Steve. Forgot about that one! Instant MOT failure and fine from the Police if they are not marked. Not to mention you probably wouldn't be insured in an accident either.
  12. One of the reasons why there was a stop put on the 'Historic' classification of VED was due to the rise in sales of 25 year old plus vehicles and the number being used to flout the congestion zone in London.
  13. LED lighting on a Wartime vehicle. Really authentic!
  14. You can no longer apply for a historic catagory for road tax per se foe 25 year old vehicles. This now only applies to pre 1973 vehicles and you have to apply for it. It's great to see the Government classes all post 1973 vehicles as non historic - cheers
  15. Ian. 58 pattern belts are becoming like WW2 kit. Sought after and a bit rareish due to post war re enactors after them along with serving 16 Air Assault lads and paras because of the ally look.
  16. Grumpy I think we've established you were right if your not using the vehicle no insurance is needed. If tax runs out you must Sorn or be insured? So does that mean the end of the Sorn fines as your insured? If trade plates are nothing to do with insurance then why do you drive a test car with valid tax and number plates with Trade plates fitted? I guess it's so the Police know who's driving the car, as it's not the registered keeper who has sold it?
  17. Yep, there was a drum mag pouch. Only really ever issued to the USMC. Not generally used as the drum mag was rejected very early in the war due to weight and jamming problems
  18. Sorry guys. I hang my head in shame. I was wrong you are right. If you have NOT declared Sorn the vehicles must be insured. I would like to know what will happen when you put a vehicle back on the road that has never been subject to Sorn. Apologies for the confusion i'm now leaving to country & seeking asylum elsewhere.
  19. You should be fine. As i've said the Sorn only applies to taxed vehicles after 1998. If it's never been Sorn you're okay. The Sorn only starts from when you next tax it.
  20. No need to Sorn as this legislation only covers Sorn vehicles. When you put it back on the road, then all the fun will start.
  21. Have you had it on the road post 1998 and have you received a Sorn reminder letter / road tax renewal letter?
  22. Member of Parliaments child care travel allowances are called into question
  23. You get an automated reply back from the DVLA to either a phone number or an email address of your choice if you Sorn online. BUT, you must insure you receive the confirmation letter in 4 weeks. You may find you can't Sorn your vehicle as maybe it hasn't run out from the last peroid yet or they haven't sent the reminder to you yet. That's what i've found.
  24. Yep, I'd remove this & use it as a house ornamant. I think you'll find this a part of a firearm & you could get a serious slap on the wrist. No sweets, no beers & up to 15 years inside.
