  1. Mine took a couple of days to activate. I have mailed CS Tat before and their reply was pretty quick.
  2. Within 10 minutes of entering the gate: Three wing boxes with aerial mounts, £40 Clansman 351, £80 Then got a text from the missus saying "don't buy any more cr@p" She was too late, the feeding frenzy had already started....... Then got some canvas paint and DBG from RR services and was sorely tempted by the boxed brens Withams had, but thought it more important to source a mount for the Ferret first....and save my marriage of course! One day....not enough...what was I thinking! Next year I am going to make sure we are not "otherwise engaged" and book in for a few days.
  3. I met a few of you guys last year, but it would be nice to put more faces to names. Would it be an idea for folk to put their login name on their MVs to give us newbies (ish) a clue?
  4. I had thought about that...but by the time you get decent canvas and all the other stuff, the guys that specialise do not actually look too bad a deal. I guess thats speaking for an off-the-shelf standard type cover...not sure about bespoke on-offs.
  5. Well. I won't be there :-( "We" have other arrangements at the weekend, and have no holiday left to take. I may throw a sicky to visit on the Thursday or Friday to see what presents I can buy for the Ferret or Landy. Mick (NOT HAPPY)!!!!
  6. I find it so hard to believe that folk with a common interest would steal from each other (not that I find it acceptable to steal...fulll stop!!!). I suppose that is assuming it was another MV enthusiast...and if the tents were stolen that was before Joe public had access? Getting the nets out of the back of the Stolly? Someone must have seen....they must have had a ladder!!!
  7. I thought (probably incorrectly) that the IRR paint reflected heat (ie sun etc) so would have a lower heat signature....
  8. I think the HMVFTV link was the giveaway...as were the tyres :-)
  9. I see someone on here is thinning their collection.....looks really nice, shame I have been banned from buying any more.
  10. Thanks Clive...It does confirm what I thought about the black though...too much at the moment. How would you remove paint from the plastic grill (its badly flaking, and really daubed on badly)? Is the plastic grill correct (its a 1978)? I am worried about using paint stripper in case it melts the plastic. Mick
  11. Thanks Chris...for some stupid reason I was going to paint the nato green around the black already on there, but what you say sounds much easier and quicker.
  12. Guys, I am about to paint my 109FFR and would like some advice and honest opinion (like you wouldn't be honest!) Do I go plain nato green, or do I go cammo? The black paintwork is generally good, but the lighter colour is naff. I would ideally like to go down the black/nato green route, but is it hard to do properly? Generally, are the transitions from black to green sharp, or do they blend (I have seen both, but not sure what is strictly correct). Does that depend on whether its sprayed of brushed/rollered? As it stands, is there too much black (looking at others', there does appear to be too much). Piccy of it as it stands right now. Thanks, Mick
  13. hell...I know you are right. The Landy is dangerous without them, they connect the steering flange thrust bearings to the backpeddling mudguards!
  14. No Radios at the moment, I am trying to get it looking correct externally at the moment, which will include a good paint. I need to convince someone that wing boxes are absolutely neccessary and a good investment
  15. Thanks John..I really must take up your offer and come over and survey your Ferret. Lee...superb....maybe I could install it at Beltring
  16. Thanks Chris, I have the stalks and aerials with bases...just wanted to check if I installed them with the bases you guys wouldn't say "look at that numpty" Mick
  17. Guys, what is the difference between a mk2 and a mk2/3 turret? I have read that the 2/3 turret is larger, but pictures I have seen do not seem to confirm that. Is the hatch different between those two? Would it be easy to get a top hatch fabricated? There is one in CMV this month and just wondered if its someone on here, or if its worth getting if the top hatch is missing? Thanks, Mick
  18. Q1. - The aerial side stalks on a landrover FFR. should the mounts have the tuning ring or not? Seen pictures of FFRs, some with them fitted, some not (when I say the tuning ring, I mean the metal base on the bottom of the aerial mount....I may not have used the right term). Q2. - Camo netting supports. Where can I get poles, and the collander type things for supporting the netting (sorry for all these technical terms...they may confuse those not "in the know") Mick
  19. I would have thought you could park it in the street in Deptford and the wheels would be taken off by the next morning anyhow? Saves all that hassle of getting the right tools?
  20. Hahaha...searched on Google (H1/8010-99-225-0094) and the only reference I could find was on the emlra website...and article by.....Clive Elliott
  21. Sail Paint? I have tried searching for everything at loads of boat chandlers etc...cannot find such a thing...are we sure it exists? Its not one of those "sparks for your angle grinder" things?
  22. Hi Jack..no its OK I will wait for them to be fixed. I wanted to browse colours, markings and maybe paint schemes (not sure hiow much black and green are correct on Landrover SIII Mick
  23. OK...don't laugh....is it true you can repaint your canvas with ordinary emulsion paint and then proof it with thompsons? I read it somewhere on some forum, but cannot remember where. Just cleaned mine...its green on the inside and white outside...just want to get it looking half decent while I convince someone I need a new one.
  24. I am still having problems with those links...trying to get to the paint ones. Mick
