  1. Hi I am trying to go down the motorhome Class IV MOT route and plating at 7500kgs. M
  2. I must confess I prefer not to call exemptions loopholes as it implies that there is a wrondoing. The law was specifically drafted to allow certain exemptions and provided people comply with their requirements I don't see it as a problem. Clearly there is always a question of interpretation and that is for the Courts. M
  3. I can't see the problem with the exemption provided educational material is on display. The legislation is an either/ or. Play bus or mobile exhibition. I have spent ages talking to DVLA ,VOSA and the other Government agencies who deal with this type of thing and have never received a consistent reply! M
  4. Hi I have just advertised my Reo on Milweb, and I got this.............. Dear , I got your contact that you have a used militry vehicle, advise with asking price with curent pictures and condition of the vehicle. I will also need the to confirm your payment term inother for my bank to make the payment once we finalise on asking price. Regards, W.Freedman. I have replied that it's cash only!! Thought the name was familiar! I must ask him why he didn't make the other purchases! Martin

  6. Hi Our DUKW took 6 spaces in Tescos! Two and one half tons of Kitty Chunks please! M
  7. In Chris Ould's article 'Buying on a Budget' ,he refers to '........older vehicles coming under greater scrutiny........' I have asked for clarification but does anyone know what he meant? Thanks, M
  8. Hi Please, before you have anything to do with Asbestos, read this. Thanks, M http://www.state.nj.us/health/iep/asbestos_faq.shtml
  9. Hi Try classic car suppliers or perhaps Land Rover. I got mine from Speedy Spares in Brighton. M
  10. Hi There was a Pig in Heroes. M
  11. Hi Unfortunately the deal seems to have fallen through. Thanks anyway. Martin
  12. HI All I would suggest is that if you opt for an external contracting type, you 'build up' the corner of the 'L' shaped arm that operates onto the brake pad. This makes the brake come on 'quicker' and makes it easier to adjust. I'm told the brake is then capable of locking the wheels on the move. Otherwise adjustment is quite precarious. Mine caught fire! Hope this helps, M
  13. Hi Please can anyone advise where I might get some 900x 20 Reo tyres, preferably in the Sussex area. Thanks, Martin
  14. Hi I used to live just around the corner from Peter Gray's motorcycle shop and remember, at age 5,seeing military Harleys. He kept his bigger vehicles in a railway yard near my Gran so the green disease got me very early! Martin
  15. Hi Mine had rotted tyres so I replaced them with 7.50s so it is a bit 'nose down' behind my Daihatsu. It tows fine with the Nato hitch. I also fitted a trailer board and removed the old lights and panels. M
  16. Hi I have spent ages looking for an email address for them. Please could you let me know their address so I can write. I am thinking of trying to get it back. M
  17. Hi I believe the Reo is my old workshop bodied one. Please could you confim if it was ? Thanks, M
  18. I saw a Merlin powered 6 wheeler in Brighton about 25 years ago. It was in the Speed Trials and was gold coloured with 2 bubble cockpits and twin bus axles at the back.Awesome! Currently there is a beautiful handbuilt silver roadster doing the local shows. It has a non blown Hurricane engine. I saw the Rover at Bromley a while back. That sounded good too. I always wondered if one would fit in a Stolly!? Martin
  19. Hi In anticipation (I hope) of another Reo , I have had made 'Danger air bag test area'. Martin
  20. Hi Be careful with these. I believe the Police were taking a keen interest in them at Beltring. M
  21. Hi Just returned from the wettest Beltring I can remember in 20 years. Hope everyone enjoyed it. The old chestnut of ' 'they' are checking Reos again', was doing the rounds. Anything in it? I was thinking of buying one so would appreciate some advice. As the holder of an 'old' licence I can drive up to 7.5T MAM (Vehicle weight plus maximum load) unless it was made before 1960, when there is no limit. So if I want to buy a newer one it seems I will need to get it plated to a lower MAM. Has anyone any experience of this please? Some websites offer this as an exercise in paperwork rather than a physical alteration. I am considering a workshop body and converting to motorhome with appropriate MOT. Thanks, M
  22. Hi Andy. I really need some plans so he can approximate likely costs. I have looked on the net but there are soooo many sites! Please can anyone assist? Thanks, Martin If he takes this on I miight try for a Minigun too!
  23. Hi I wondered if there is a market for 30 and 50 cals made in aluminium. I know a machinist who is willing to try making these but he needs detailed plans, drawings and photographs so he can cost out the job. Please can I have thoughts on this and plans etc. Martin
