  1. That missile looks amazing, even more that a jeep towed it :-D Looks like a great event and as always, nice weather makes it even better.
  2. Could try these 9" x 9" canvas patches. Not sure how close the olive colour one matches though, but cheap enough either way. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280674277757
  3. not a 12x12 tent but here is a video of how to do dutch lacing
  4. Over on the wwiireenacting forum there was is a official post from USO group :- http://www.wwiireenacting.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=104&t=68404
  5. Also, shame to note that the USO tour won't be at War & Peace 2011 or by the looks of it ever again :-( I really enjoyed their set-up and great prices on the food and drink compared to "Gingers" beer tent:cool2:
  6. Amazed at how little force is used as he taps out the dent.
  7. If you don't mind a bit of reading, you can browse http://www.webhostingtalk.com/ you should be able to search for any webhosting company/reseller you pick and get some reviews of them there
  8. Just out of curiosity and researching the possibility of visiting any, are there any similar sites to this one on the other side of the pond? Especially ones with show reports, photo blogs. Anyone got a link of of any sites they frequent? Cheers
  9. This was our 2nd year attending the show and just like last year amazing weather! Paul was a little worried since the Ferret respray was only a few days before and it didn't feel like the paint had hardened up yet. The show is held in East Grinstead, sited in the car park of the local furniture store (Martell's) and uses part of the shopping arcade for some static displays. As usual great organisation by Mark Collins and the trust. Had a good turnout of vehicles from a variety of Land Rovers, 3 M35s (I think), a Gama Goat, few jeeps and a Fox. All in all a great time and a nice way for us to start off the show season with a show in our own town Quick shock horror at the petrol pump prices before setting up at the show (Top down shots Courtesy of Mark Collins @ www.sussexmvt.co.uk)
  10. I wonder if this was done while in the Withams yard? Do Withams staff keep an eye on people inspecting the lots?
  11. This was our first time visiting the show and despite the grim overcast skies on Friday we set off for the 20 mile drive in the afternoon to the show ground in East Sussex, after booking the Ferret in we duly navigated seas of white caravans, classic cars, commercial trucks and steam engines to find the military vehicle field/row. Little concerned that we were the only military vehicle in site but at least we got to chose our prime spot . The actual show ground is very well laid out with the rows for vehicle displays permanently marked into the ground so it's easy to see where to setup and where the MOP road-way is. And by Friday afternoon / early Sat the line up had grown to include :- And once the Sun came out on Sunday a few more came for the day. Cheers
  12. Saw this on another thread, are these still called snatch Land Rovers ?
  13. Saw this shot posted on another forum. http://www.wwiireenacting.co.uk/
  14. A few pics I took though it seemed it was either raining or the wind was a blowing every time I wanted to snap a pic. Hurricane after landing Hurricane pilot Anna Walker P51 Mustang Tiger Moths in formation Lancaster heading home And finally some bloke who got in the way of my zoom shot All in all a very good show with a really good mix of vehicles and aircraft. we even got to do a little bit of traffic marshalling :-D Though perhaps next year would like to see a few more or larger stalls but either way definitely coming again next year. Cheers
  15. Yes was quite impressed with the amount of armour on display at the show. Especially given the size and location of the arena. I first said to Griff66, no that's just the arena for the living history displays, they'll have somewhere else for the vehicles since it looks far too small for the vehicles to turn around in the circuit Well that was true for the M26 which had to just "park" in the middle and let all the smaller vehicles buzz around it:-D
  16. Sorry for another newbie question, anyone think the organisers would have a problem with this camping set-up under the green camping only rules for Headcorn? Really don't want to have to buy another tent just yet
  17. Myself and Griff66 drove up on Friday with a new rad on the Ferret which will hopefully put an end to the overheating on long runs problem, although as the show site is only 7 miles from us not really a long enough run to see if the problem is finally solved though Paul is running out of things to replace :-D. Arrived just after midday to hear horror stories of the dreaded HSE ordering people to move their tents at least 6m apart and of someone having to move a 12 man patrol tent already pitched :-(. Any ways set-up camp and started on the cold beers looking over a collection of Jeeps and Landrovers when something came rumbling along over the hedgerow though all we could see of it was end of a crane jib and some sort of "trailer" :-D A few more minutes resolved this into Mark with his Ward La France M1A1and infamous trailer. Having never met him before we settled down in the camp chairs with beers in hand to watch the show as he setup :-D Of course there is no such thing as just watching the show and within a few minutes he had us erecting side tents, running winches and knocking in the odd few mooring pins for the winch anchors. A great way meet Mark. I bet you're thinking 'hang on, what about ferrets on a ferret' well a picture saves a thousand words so without further ado :- Apparently just further up in the field from us was the Kent Van Cruising club and one of their members had a load of ferrets and wanted a picture of his ferrets on a ferret :-D This might give a little flavour of the show given there was also terrier racing :- About 30 or so military vehicles plus a load of steam engines and classic cars. We were very impressed with this 1954 Volvo command car, which quite modern for its age. Volvo "Sugge" TP21 And finally on Sunday someone turned up in something to give a little oomph to the show. Which turned out to be Mike's (TooTallMike) Spartan and that he was only 5 miles down the road from us, small world eh? All in all a very good local show and a nice way to relax after War & Peace and meet some new folks from the forum. Cheers, Ian & Paul
  18. Amazingly enough and something that could only happen at War & Peace, after I bought the infra-red chem sticks I of course snapped one and then spent the rest of the day trying to find someone in the Ferret camp that had a camera with night vision mode, no joy. Later on standing in the Gingers beer tent, my brother tapped me on the shoulder and pointed out a chap with a pair of NVGs on his head and hey presto these chem sticks really do work :-D
  19. I bought :- 11m x 5m camo net Ferret cooking/mess tins X2 (they were stuck together and no one including the stall holder could part them :-D ) 2 X new Clansman headsets box of infra-red chem sticks (no idea why I bought these) 2 man bivvy tent to be turned into a canvas top cover for the Ferret and a bunch of cheap/old 9x9/12x12 tent bags for just kit storage) oh and rented a few gallons of beer from the Gingers tent :-D
  20. After 6 nights of camping directly opposite the fun fair I am now word perfect on the PA announcements made by the ride operators and am ready to jump in on the microphone :-D
  21. Which provider are you with? I've got Vodafone, seems to be pretty quick
  22. Myself and Paul (Griff66) arrived midday yesterday and after a few wrong turns around entrance (sorry to everyone when we blocked the exit road :-D while I ran over to read road signs) finally found our spot with Brian and John Dewes lot. Right next to the fun fair so that should be entertaining for sleeping :-D. Looking forward to putting some names to faces as we get our W&P legs. Cheers all, Ian & Paul (sand coloured MK 1/II Ferret)
