  1. Few more hours spent on the Bedford today doing cab floor boards MKII Using the three pieces of ply as templates made it a tad easier to make the correct two plank panel. Bit of fettling and fitting of three cleats underneath and they are ready for paint. My Xmas present has also arrived, its a new wiring loom for the MW from auto sparks and looks the dogs do dahs :-D
  2. OK new muffler fitted with no probs and it sounds good though I need to take it up the road next chance of good weather just to make sure :-D
  3. Had a few hours tinkering with truck in't shed always seems to take longer to do these jobs than you think :nut: Engine breather pipe in place Tried a later style engine side panel on to see how well it fits or not :wow:
  4. Made some fittings for bonnet springs and engine breather pipe clamp so will be off down t'shed tomo to fit them :-D Got some of the cab plates from Malvern last Sunday as well as a battery box
  5. Brill that's the company wife has offered to buy it as my xmas present bless her thanks for info :-)
  6. Am looking to fit a new wiring to the Bedford and had a company in mind but cannot for the life of me remember who it was , can suggest a reliable company to make a new loom for me. cheers RR.
  7. Well its been a short afternoon down t'shed this avo but managed to make the timber bulkhead member that carries the rear edge of the bonnet, most of the work had already been put into making the pattern so it went quite easily today though will still need some fettling. Starting to look a bit better now
  8. Ditto I used a colour match from a sample provided by Alex if you know who I mean looks right for early mw's not sure that brown looks right as it seems too dark, I found some later brown paint in places on my MW and it did look like milk chocolate nice !!!!
  9. Horrendous flat spot has been resolved, took the carb off and blew out all the jets etc and its improved no end gave the bonnet panels another coat of paint and next job is continuing the work on the timber cross member that supports the bonnet then it'll be the wings.
  10. Nuther busy day sorting the bonnet, lots of fiddly work sorting centre hinge for bonnet as sections of hinge were missing and need to be fabricated. Took most of the day to get the panels ready for undercoat Front panel and prop shaft ready to have some green stuff added next session. Managed to get another clip of the engine running today though it was getting rather dark by the time I got round to it. hope fully it sounds a tad better though it developed a flat spot on acceleration so will have a look at the carb :nut:
  11. yes and no :nut: the Jeep I'd jump in and drive to Normandy tomo no probs, in fact I restored it in 93 managed to finish it just in time to do just that in 94, the Norton again has never let me down so far touch wood as for the Champ well its a lovely thing to drive and now it has a new carb I am beginning to have more faith in it, but again it has never let me stranded, just !! I used to own a Chev C 15 and I must admit I never looked forward to driving it, funny pedal arrangement, noisy, hot and I just didn't trust it to get me to where I was going and I found it stressfull so sold it As for the MW I look forward to driving it to shows etc, and hope once the odd gremlin is sorted that it will be a reliable truck, I hope so anyways. The best thing about all our vehicles etc is its a very sociable hobby and I've met some great characters and made some good friends over the years and continue to do so
  12. Good day at the Dallas digout with lots of bits n bobs and swaps which will move the resto on, have now got both front seats and engine splash guards
  13. The scene depicted on the plate reminds me very much of Burghead and Findhorn bay looking west, I spent many happy holidays there as a youngster and hope to return there again next year the first time in 20 yrs
  14. Christmas came early today in the post as I now have a NOS. muffler for the champ so hopefully it will now no longer sound like zer Panzer wagon
  15. Yes I agree it had only been running 5 mins and its sounds a whole lot better now that the tappets have been adjusted etc, etc. the clicking noise is interference from the sparks plugs on the camera, will try to post another clip now its running ok.
  16. Now the engine is on the way to be sorted I have been looking at making the timber support fixed to the bulkhead that the bonnet rests on I have made a pattern today before going on to make the real thing, I really need more pictures / info on this to make sure I get it correct, forgot to take my camera today , DOH !! :nut: the rest of the day being spent repairing the front panel and bonnet which needed quite a bit of sorting, plus the prop shaft is ready for paint before refitting. Note to self " take pics next session" If anyone can provide me with measurements and detailed pics of the early bulkhead timber it would be much appreciated
  17. Spent some time tonight fettling engine with a mechanic mate of mine and its running really sweet now no burning oil or rattles etc just need to replace the vacuum unit on the dizzy then it looks like its sorted, can continue with the fuel tanks now :nut:
  18. At last its ALIVE !!!! :-D yes folks after sorting a complete lack of spark on the dizzy I managed to run the engine or the first time, it needs a bit of fettling but at least it runs :drive: :dancinggirls::clap: Here's a youtube clip hopefully :cool2: yes just checked and the link works :nut:
  19. Still here plodding on with sorting out the fuel tanks so nothing that exciting to report I'm afraid, will start on the cab tin work after I get the engine to run, hopefully
