  1. Found this today And just had time to loosely fit the stowage box to the cab panel before re planking starts.
  2. Now after the four carriages are off to sunny Belgium its time to get back to more important things, A good friend of mine found a very nice early MW dipstick note the original thick felt washer if this is missing off yours it will give a false reading. Also note the nice blingy brass turned bit on the end to cheer Maurice up :cool2: I know he likes the brass bezzles on my dash so this should match nicely :cool2: Have now started fabricating the stowage box for the cab.
  3. Here's some more for you all Hope they are of some interest it would be nice to reunite these cards to the vehicles if they still exist and apologies for hijacking this thread somewhat :cool2:
  4. There are over 50 cards containing details of fords which models are you interested in ?
  5. Sorry just searched through the pile and no Austin K9's lots of civi cars and ford Thames etc
  6. Yes I have a whole pile of cards which I was informed came from a camp Nr Malvern mostly post war vehicles but some WWII lots of signals trucks lots of ford thames and civilian cars mostly dispatched for disposal at ruddington Probably have around 100 of them I have found a photo on the web of 06CC65 which looks like it was taken in Germany possibly.
  7. I don't own ferret 06cc65 but I do have its RRE Vehicle card will post a pic in a mo. Found this today at the Ross on wye Auto jumble
  8. Hi does anyone have any ideas on what these were fitted to please. Any help much appreciated.
  9. Welcome fellow Bedford owner, be nice to see some pics of your projects when you get the time.
  10. Hi Nick how's the sand channels :-D did see you at Malvern but was busy gassing and didn't get a chance to say hello, I have to say that CS8 is a lovely looking truck and a credit to you, welcome in to the madhouse :nut: RR.
  11. Its surprising how much wood is involved in an MW You are lucky in that you have a complete rear body where I have had to manufacture a lot from scratch apart from the sides. Its a lot of work and like you I am having to replace some of the steelwork due to rust. Have you found a source for the coachbolts yet ? if you can save all the nuts as these are now very hard to find I cut the heads off the bolts to preserve the nuts when dismantling it all but will still need quite a few new ones for the rebuild. The planks were easy to source as they are European redwood @ 95mm X 22mm which my timber supplier had in stock and needed no machining all I had to do was run a slight chamfer on them, job done :nut:
  12. Bat box tops ready to roll Thought it was time to look at the tailboard I was hoping to salvage the timber but it was too far gone, some planks had been replaced, others badly repaired and most of the coach bolts nearly rusted through. Just had time to start sorting the new planking before taking all the brackets and bits n bobs to the shot blasters.
  13. Durrants auctioneers its the peter sayer collection.
  14. Great work that's really coming together now, I see there is fair bit of radio gear up for auction listed on a thread elsewhere on here you may be interested in.
  15. The timber I used is called Red Grandis its a hardwood that is rot resistant but not too corrosive to fixings, its a tad on the expensive side but has a nice finish with no knots and is light in weght compared to a lot of hardwoods.
  16. Have managed to get some time on the Bedford at last, things have been busy with getting four carriages ready to go out to Belgium its meant some late evenings but can't complain, its nice to have lots of work on. Something different to look at apart from the MW The packers are fitted to the underside of the floor frame and all the holes are drilled for the rear cross member brckts. New petrol tank straps made. Used rotten old tail gate step as pattern for new ones. Just needs folding now, have also had the ends for the box in the cab folded and am in the process of making new tops for the battery box. Jig for tops I hope to get them all finished for Malvern. Still need a bit of fettling but nearly there.
  17. Yes that's why I thought I'd use a number from contract T8102 with my chassis number 2947 I thought that it would be in the range of 4108701 - 4110700 I know its almost impossible to be exact but with a production number of 1946 I though it would be from an early contract, I wonder exactly when it was built Sept, Oct or November 1939 ?
  18. Thanks for the info everyone especially Pete, I 've made my own stencils in the past using your technique and it works fine just needed to know the sizes, as to what my Z number should be for my early MW is a whole different matter with its chassis number being so low I'm erring towards Z 4109148 maybe :cool2:
  19. Now that the bonnet is ready on my Bedford MW I'm thinking of what height the Z numbers should be and what thickness they are plus the style also the size etc of the 30 mph sign often seen on the rear body of the truck have had a look for threads concerning this but withy no luck. Help please. Regards the Rivet.
  20. This question has probably been addressed on other posts but here goes - can anyone tell me the size in height, style and thickness of the lettering of the Z number on the bonnet for MW please as I will need to get my bonnet marked up soon, also any details of the 30 mph sign on the rear tailgate. any info much appreciated as I would like it to be as accurate as possible. Cheers RR.
  21. Hi Paul will put two aside for you and bring them to the Dallas Dig out :-D
