  1. Exceptional restoration. Very Impressive. Shows us all how it should be done!
  2. Old Duffer and run silent tech is not a good recipe for safety!....Quick get out of the way!
  3. Is the lightweight normally treated to some special coating around the ignition barrel and electrical connectors or would this be specific to the winterised? Image attached for assistance. On a poignant note I uncovered what appears to be a remnant of an old cut up pair of navy blue coveralls used as a rag recently. Clive I am guessing it is the remains of an old pair of Dale's coverall's as he always seemed to be wearing a pair when pictured working away on his vehicles? One for the Snug!!
  4. Clive just managed to get a peep at forum after running around the country. Again!! That first video looks very familiar to me I must say....... The second video is great.....I can just picture the faces of the patrons sat outside when they heard the rumble and whining and then FV1609 pops from around the corner....Priceless!!! She is looking very healthy......A credit to you! I am guessing that the camera person is the much beloved??? :-)
  5. Just a side issue as I guess these items are still in development, but as they are posted on the world wide web how are you covered under 'restricted issue' and the OSA?? Interested to know some what!
  6. Without Sounding Dim who is IIRC please???? Am I losing the plot????:nut: DOH! The images are on Daves site aren't they????????? I am naturally Blonde by the way!
  7. Is this the altered housing that Dave Disco has on his images Ruxy. I guess it is? Do you know of any diagrams or images showing clearly the routes of the hoses. I have a rather long straight ish length of a wrapped hose (looks like its wrapped along its length) with a definate kink / shallow bend towards the end, which I am guessing is the return from Arctic Heater to rad/ pump??????? Thanks for other references though!
  8. Spotted on the way home on Friday 13th August travelling north up the M5 near Brsitol. Any ideas what it is anyone?
  9. Did some more poking around over the weekend and was hoping for some assistance regarding the coolant hoses configeration. The old feed from the back of the block has a blanking plug fitted where it would have come into the footwell area. The top hose from the rad to thermostat housing is missing but the bottom of the rad to the block appears to be a 'U' turn unless there is a T piece missing where the return from the winterised heater between front seats ran back to rad bottom but had a T link to the side of the water pump (dizzy side). I have attached some photo's as an illustration to all this diction! Anyone help please?
  10. Mike let me know how you get on with this tool as I was looking at getting one myself. Gr8 work on the restoration! Cheers:-D
  11. Not strictly cosha and genuine, but you can remove the HT leads and replace with normal HT leads, albeit with the ends cropped so the lead fits into orifice in dizzy cap and then you can run normal LR plugs to suit 2 1/4 engine. After all ignition side of engine is 12V when running! I owned a S3 FFR 109 and had problems with screened plugs that became expensive. Fitted the above and didn't have the same issues. I managed to buy brand new points from The Landrover Orphanage, as they has quite a good spares list for 24v Series LR's. LR Series is my other favorite shop. Craddocks and Blanchards also cover the 24v FFR's.
  12. Congratulations. Always nice to meet a future forum member. Have a drink on me!
  13. Defo go to a truck factor. The headlights will be Halogen so the truck H4 bulbs are a direct switch over. That's where I got mine from always. Regards
  14. Thanks Richard.....Fingers crossed as it would be nice to know I guess. This LTWT used to be in Dale Prior's collection and it would be a nice tribute to him if it had special provenance I guess!
  15. Don't wee on my bonfire yet! You are probably right though...... If the Army card comes back stating 'Theatre' on key dates and we know 29 Cdo RA were there, what should I assume???????? At my age I am not able to get excited these days, so for now I am hanging onto this possibility. Joking aside if a vehicle can be reasonably proved that it may have been there what would it add to provenance or historic value????? Just a question as I don't know. All hearsay at the mo and just a pipe dream!
  16. Hurry up Deepcut as it may be an eye opener????? Mmmm!
  17. Still waiting for a reply from Deepcut but my winterised Lightweight FFR is ex 29 Cdo RA and I know that they were at the Falklands with 3 Cdo according to info I have read, researched. Is it reasonable to assume that as the parent unit was there that they would have take their MT fleet with them, taking into account that the largest indent of MT's went down with the Conveyor I am hoping that not everything was sunk as some vehicles did get on the island:undecided:????
  18. That's just showing off with qualifications on a Friday Mr Elliott. You are right and it is closer to 4.78T at 4785.45kg  I am not worthy! Alan must be anticipating an email from you as I can hear erruptions starting from the Herefordshire area. Oh why did I say is that Knicker Pink!......:laugh::laugh::laugh:
  19. Long or Short Hundredweight?????? Roughly in either case 20 Hundredweight is a metric Ton. As a conversion the 4T 14cwt it equates to 4.7 T. I agree with your maths, albeit 20 divided by 14 is 0.7 so you must have more balls on your abacus Clive. Thanks for the info though. I guess with empty fuel tanks and no batteries fitted it would be below 4.5T?? Regards
  20. Thanks everyone. The confirmed reduction in unladen weight by Clive is indeed of assistance. My close friend back home transports his SAS Pinkie fully laden on his 7.5T GVW Mercedes transporter so I am guessing that a series 2a Pinkie will all canvas' radios and fuel in tanks must be getting close to the nett 4775Kg approx that Clive advises. I will of course let people know how I get on for future reference. Regards
  21. What I really want to know is if 29 Cdo and my vehicle were at Theatre in 1982 The Falklands. I know that 29 Cdo were as well as 3 Cdo. Deepcut searce required me thinks. State of the chassis and bulkhead would suggest this thing has been in salt water at some point! Cheers
  22. Just had a reply to an enquiry made to Defence Estates and Support. I guess this is the same info that EMLRA would obtain from Merlin Management Information. My LTWT was first asigned to 29 CDO Regt RA, which supported 3 CDO Regt. Following that it was asigned with UK Land Forces Command Support Group. My next step is to get in touch with Deepcut as DE&S have confirmed that the information is held at RLCM Deepcut. Apparantly 29 CDO Regt we tasked with 3 Cdo so that might explain why 3 Cdo is on the bonnet unless that was for when it was cast / auctioned.
  23. OMG! That is very impressive....You must have the patience of a Saint and the eye of a Hawk. Keep up the good work.
