  1. It's near Trowbridge, Devises etc. That is North of Salisbury but close enough :cool2:
  2. Melksham! That's not too far from Clive.....Clive does this strike a chord with you??
  3. Toby welcome to the world of the PIG. Clive told me we had a new friend last night and I couldn't get to PC to check. Pics are always warmly received in all threads. WE LOVE PICTURES! :nut: Clive is certainly the MAN on Humbers and don't let his unashaming comment on no4 cylinder sway you...........He is a legend. I even have a friend in Prague with a Rover 8FFR Land Rover who thinks he is a 'Legend', which is why he is in our eyes. Joining this forum is the best thing you could have done........Lots of friends and advice.....If it's out there we generally know where...even if it's across the pond, snow, whatever. Gets some picture up mate and watch the 'inbox' as they say.
  4. I will need to measure the battery boxes to ensure the largest fit as a 60Ah battery is not very large at all. Land Rovers are around 110Ah I think???? TBC. I am sure that the switch was a PO prior to Dale if that was a mis-quote meaning PO. The rotary switch offer sound great and the other switch is I guess the white one lower down in the pick??? I guess whilst you were there being busy you didn't find the Ign Key by any chance???? I will double check the RS book tonight and let you know actual title and if it is of value then it's on its way to Salisbury with my compliments. Yes I must get across to see you and collect items/ continue my PIG initiation. About to move house at the mo and it's all got a little hectic. Sorry to hear of woes with RB60 engine I hope it's all easily fixable. Any particular reason as to why the head surgery was created?? :-)
  5. Clive on a seperate issue I have a Royal Signals Corps publication / instruction book dating back to 1947, which refers to communications, obviously but can't remember exact title. I will double check the title and take a pic for you and post up tomorrow. If it is of value to you / your collection I will either post it or deliver next time I get to see you. Alternatively could drop off at Alison's if you have a Woodley trip planned in the near future??? Regards
  6. Isn't that the exact hole position for where the switch for the indicators should be Clive. If I rip it out and fill in the whole then I will still have to re-instate a correct switch or a period looking switch for the indicators???? Can you advise what batteries should be used for the 2x12V in series vehicle batteries?? The battery boxes look quite large?? I guess getting some batteries connected would see if it works and indeed what it switches??? PS Sent the letter of to MVT regarding registering so thank you for your valuable input. Regards
  7. Adam my friendly fabricator / shot blaster has packed in work having been diagnosed with the dreaded 'C' so I will be looking at another route when I get around to them. So I will tell you more as and when my friend. Noticed an odd detail / PO change on my PIG having queried the indicator switch with Clive a little while ago as the rocker switch appeared to me missing. However another photo angle has suggested a toggle switch arrangement that must be a non-standard alteration and I am guessing 'NOT' spec. Any suggestions/ ideas at all?? :-|
  8. That's come up well. Which brand of stripper do you use???? Keep the pictures coming. :-)
  9. "So then Jeffries! Where did you get the future issue infantry helmet with extended sun peak?"
  10. Thanks Ruxy! I guessed as much, although I think there is a slight difference with the male/ female connectors. without having the bits in front of me (socket / lead) I believe one of them has 2 connectors and the other has 3???? does that sound correct. Do you know?? :-\
  11. I wish I found skips with goodies inside
  12. On the battery tray/ radio table is a cable with a pin connector for connecting into the charging circuit from the shunt box. Is this fitting able to be connected into the socket in the photo highlighted???
  13. Took some pics yesterday. Voila! Information instructions sheet refers to 94KE17
  14. Bon Voyage Mate! Look forward to more pics. Regards Wayne
  15. Some time ago I aquired an integral battery box with installed cabling, which included an attached table for bolting the radios down. It has a laminated sheet inside that has a vehicle registration number. It looks more current that say an old series landrover install with seperate battery cover / sliding table etc so guess it is out of a Defender/ Wolf? Is such a piece of equipment suitable to afix into a ser3 lightweight Winterised FFR that was cast in the early 90's. If anyone is struggling to understand what I mean I can photo tonight and post images up to thread. Cheers Wayno :-\
  16. I echo that sentiment and wish the family well at this difficult time. They say he only takes the Good Uns!
  17. Firstly Pneumatic tyres and armour tracked vehicles displace loads quite differently as tracked has a spread of point loads as it were. Your sub-base should be nothing less than 8 inches of MOT type 1 hardcore with a sand blinding of 2inch. Then without a bearing pressure test done on the ground I would suggest nothing less than an 8inch slab with reinforcement top and bottom, say B293 mesh. Thats typical for what is used for an MT depot. Concrete would need to be at least C30 or C35. If we have an engineer on the forum he may concur or fine tune my suggestions. Cheers Wayne
  18. Better to write a polite letter to Defence Estates and Support as they will send you a copy of the Merlin data as long as your letter is very nice and polite. If you want details then PM me!
  19. That image resembles a mobile phone browser version!
  20. Congratulations. Landed yourself a bit of a steal there buddy :cool2:
  21. As always Clive thank you for the assistance and added history / archive material. Further thanks for the email. :-\
