  1. Blanchards have replied to my email stating they have nothing life that????!!! :-(
  2. Sorted with Footman James.....£103.95 after club discounts Thanks for all your help gents.
  3. Thanks everyone so far..... I would ideally like to insure all on one policy so as to get added value and convenience. Clive you didn't mention if all were on a block policy or if TUL was separate??? Regards :undecided:
  4. I can see an FJ thread developing.....I will let this run a little longer to see if anyone has other ideas for a competitive quote unless going to FJ is a No Brainer!!!! Can you do more than one vehicle on one policy chaps?? Thank you.
  5. I have now received my verification letter from the MVT and need to do the necessary paperwork to get my Pig registered etc. Recommendation for insurers that specialise in military vehicles greatly appreciated. I have seen adverts for Carole Nash etc.???
  6. Quite right too! You can't rush something of beauty it has to be slowly nurtured.....You have achieved the look you wanted so well done indeed. I have aquired a better than my first purchased Rover Mk 8 (57EK34)and hope to be adding photos in due course when I can get chance to visit her (92EL57), where she is kept at present. I know Merlin and I will be loading more pics up as we progress with our restorations, no doubts at differing paces! Couldn't type that day.... ERN is 93EL57..... Doh! Regards
  7. That's the blighter! Cheers m8y.
  8. Sent email to Blanchards with a couple of photo's to see what they say. Cheers
  9. Merlin do you know resistor part numbers m8?
  10. Nick It's not the rear threaded part I need but the extended/ modified thermostat housing at the front that is fed from the radiator top hose connection. Surely that would be better as a cast metal part due to heat up between discimilar metals and distortion/ tolerance issues???? Just a suggestion as I am not a metalogist.
  11. Sound advice.....I like this comment.... Sorry no Pun! intended :-D
  12. Merlin Great Pics and good to see they have been added to the forum for all toast rack 2a NUTS to share and enjoy. I notice you have the resistors in place in the rear tub! Mine just had the backing plate.....Been after those for years!!!! A good close up would help me especially if I could mock up something that looks authentic????:cool2: I noticed that the military screened dizzy had gone and standard HT leads and plugs....Shame as the leads and plugs can be fitted to the military dizzy anyway, which helps the original look a little! As you have the military dizzy you should be able to swop across, assuming same part numbers for 2286cc 24v 40amp set up. Also the inside of my rear tub had thin strips of marine ply fitted along each side for something?? unsure if original or retro fittment??? My chassis is a little more salvagable given mine too was a farmers hack and spent 7 years in a field before I bought her from a Landrover specialist near Worcester as a restoration project. At least you have the 40amp generator and sererlium rectifiers in place, which is the real gold in your find. Keep the updates and photos coming mate so that we can share the progress and developments. I am a little stuck between 57EK34 and 44GF13 at the moment and appear to be flitting between the two! I must add some pics of mine onto the forum, probably as a shared Rover Mk 8 resto thread. Any more takers so we can make a beefy thread between us??? Cheers:-D:-D
  13. Thanks Nick. Makes sense and the return pipe is connected into the side of the block above the starter as you say...... I guess the special block that replaces the standard thermostat housing are as rare as hens teeth now?????
  14. That I don't know m8, but if it is then that's the way it is.....If it's age related then that's my desire ulimately. Cheers
  15. Dear All For what it is worth I am going through the motions with my FV1611A with the MVT, where they are sending an inspector out to witness and complete the necessary documents to forward to the DVLA as a vehicle verification exercise, which should dictate that I can get an age related plate. The critical details will be chassis and cab data plates that will then cross back to registers and historic data. My inspection is taking place tomorrow so I will give an update in due course. Regards
  16. Dear All The Hot water route from the thermostat housing is missing from my wintersied lightweight and I would like to establish which fitting is would have had. Presently the additional block and outlet is missing but the bolt length suggests it was there? I have a long section of tubing that would have connected to the arctic heater and it has a slow sweeping bend that would route up to the missing part! I attach 2 images copied from Disco Dave's site (images may have been from Fulltilt originally?) to illustrate the parts in question. I also attach an image of my engine bay with area described above. Any pointers greatly appreciated! Thanks
  17. From a fellow Humber preservist. Welcome...... Clive any updates on records from ERM?:-D
  18. Not sure if they are still available but Clive Elliott had a pair (F&R) of 101 axles for sale recently. Open to 'sensible' offer if they are still available. Axles are quite rare for these and if new mortgage prices attached....... Just a thought m8. :-)
  19. Nicely done Toby! The PIG looks to be in safe hands now.
  20. Yep! I have a very good mentor :cool2:. You might know him!
  21. Clive best not to get you started on the topic of inaccurate print and statements..... I can hear the shrieks from Salisbury from here......:red::angry:angry:argh::argh::argh:
  22. Absolutely. It creates interest in our passion for military vehicles in all guises and the people thinking of putting money in the tins will be more intertested if there is a smart military vehicle there to attract the interest. Most people wouldn't know the difference between a genuine and replica Snatch and they are the people whose support you need. Keep up the fundraising. Your hard work and dedication is very much appreciated. At least you started with an military Landie and not a civi 110. Swift and Bold.
  23. There are specific solvents used in industry and construction to remove asphalt and bitumastic compounds etc. Attached is a link to such a product. Albeit the heating and scraping is a pre-requisite to remove the majority / bulk of the material to assist with solvent cleaning / removal etc. The attached is a non-hazardous product that can be used in workshops. Using petrol would not be adviseable for obvious reasons. http://www.bitmen.f9.co.uk/asphaltclean.htm :-D
  24. I have to be good at something Clive! The word Saracen was in the back of my mind and looking at the link I would have been spot on! Whipeee! Good to have another PIG brother on the forum. :-D
  25. I recognise that MkII from a previous thread. Was it for sale somewhere in the Midlands..... The back drop of the brick building and the machinery on the floor to the side look familiar :undecided::idea::thumbsup: Well done for getting some pics up Toby....Now you need to create and album and populate that with the pictures. Cheers
