  4. Saw both the good and bad sides of the recent high winds tidal surge. Foden was pressed in to service standing up artics that had blown over in the gales. On M62 and M18. While on one of these jobs on top of the Ouse bridge although dark we actually watched the river Ouse 200 ft below us go over the banks and start flooding the entire area. then one of the lads on the job with us got a phone call to say his house was filling with water and his kids rabbit hutch had floated away with the rabbits with in it. On returning home to our yard all hell seemed to have broken loose. buses where evacuating villagers in buses to a local town. Coast guard helicopters flying about police firebrigade blocking the road all with locked engines trying to go through deep water. Got round them with foden with artic on to our yard full of officials in 4X4s yellow coats scratching their heads. Every village for miles around junction Humber Trent and Ouse was badly hit in our village 80% of homes have bad water damage some have 18 inch slurry in them Electric just come back on after 24 hrs. Talking to people who went through it from start to finish was less than 3 hours. What gets me is it we dont even make the news all we hear is how well the emergency services managed the event it was a farce.

  8. Think you will find that military/ airport use dont cover use by civilians. It has been discussed in full on here before. But you have got over one big hurdle its not overwidth
  9. Just found the above on E bay states FAIREY ARLON HYDRAULIC FILTER HOUSING 274A-3T50-EL210 NSN 4330991688376 it looks like the two on foden but no indication of size
  10. Hi its not getting enough pressure to lift relief valves you can hear them hiss when they blow off they don't. (i have taken the pressure gauge off so don't know what pressure it is going to) Only had a quick look yesterday but the pumps have the big diameter pipes going in the pressure pipes coming out go into two filter housings then on to the valve block. I remember scammell EKA had identical filter housings near crane pivot between chassis rails. will have another look
  11. Foden let us down to day. It wouldnt lift or do any thing or do anything at any speed or with any power. it has done it three times before but only intermediately then being fine. I am convinced the high pressure hydraulic filters have become blocked. I used to have the part nos for them and they are the same as fitted to the Scammell Eka but i cant find anywhere Any one able to help Please
  12. Going by the winch rollers fitted to the same chassis in pic it had the ability to winch from the front of the truck im going for 3 ton Austin gantry truck
  13. Sorry had not linked screen name with face that bottle of red wine i was drinking must have fogged the brain cells. The tea is compulsory for anyone who has the misfortune to have to visit us.
  14. Must admit the tow frame for suspend tows is going backwards thirty years. The crane is a rotator but it is a crane only not a winching platform as well not like most modern recovery equipment. Would like to have the money to buy one to chop about and have a play with.
  15. Surprised me these are up for sale so Quick Type this in on E Bay MAN/ ERF SX 32.440 8x8 HEAVY RECOVERY UNIT # CHOICE OF 4#
  16. sounds like a figment of somebodies imagination to me if it had ever got to mark 3 production it would be documented somewhere if it had run over anything the size of a molehill it would have broke in half. Where did picture come from FHM or modern version boys own
  17. Check this out another vehicle aimed at military buyers using standard civilian equipment with a few mods. Makes a very versatile piece of recovery gear. Be a long time before i can afford one from the auctions.
  18. fantastic work looking forward to finished item
  19. Just a quick one the hole looks near to the top flange i know the vehicle wont be getting any serious stress. But if it were mine and i had the equipment to hand i would be tempted to weld it up and flap it over. If for no other reseon than knowing it was there and could crack to top flange
  20. this is eaxctly why you dont tether down a vehicle when winching
