Good afternoon all, I am really struggling to fill the V55/5 in and can't seem to find out how to fill in all of the fields, despite using the V355-5 guide to filling it out. Does anyone who has successfully registered a Sabre/Scimitar/Scorpion have a copy of one completed? I'm really struggling with the weights, tax class, (I am assuming 'Crawler' from what I've read?), wheelplan etc (or do I just use what I find out the web?) basically the whole form!!!! To prepare, I have the Sabre fully insured on its military number and I also have all of the age report etc from IMPS on their letter headed paper which includes service history etc. My other question is around tax and MOT. The guidance states that I need to include the latest MOT and also payment for tax, but as the manufacture date is 1971, it appears that the Sabre is both tax and MOT exempt. Reading on though, it seems as though you have to apply for those statuses once the vehicle is registered, so how does that work? It was purchased from Military Vehicle Solutions fully restored earlier this year although I don't have any paperwork for that. Any help to fill this in would be massively appreciated as I'm feeling a little lost with it all... Cheers, Alex

Registering a Vehicle that has never been Registered
riverman posted a question in I may be stupid, but......
On my travels during the Autumn, I came across a WW2 vehicle that I am interesting in purchasing to restore (notice that I'm not saying what or where for obvious reasons). According to the old chap that owns it, it was bought from one of the Ruddington sales and worked in a local gravel quarry until it was laid up in the early 1980s. He bought it with the intention of restoring it but never got round to it. It has never been road registered. This got me thinking about the process of registering a vehicle of that age that has never had any paperwork. I have had a look on the internet and, frankly, my head is still spinning. I get the MVT verification bit - I have done that myself with other vehicles, its the HMRC bit that has me confused - it would seem that they have to be informed and provide an exemption certificate before DVLA will consider registration (even if it has never been out of the country). Exactly what process should I be considering? Can anyone point me in the right direction on this one, I would be very grateful! -
Two months ago I took all the documents to my local DVLA office to try and register my Sabre. I have previously registered an Abbot and, three years ago, a CVRT Striker with no problems..... ...however our local office (Worcester) is due to close this month and no longer deal with first registrations.... they checked all my documents and kindly forwarded them on to DVLA Swansea. To cut a long story short... two months on and vehicle not yet registered.... Today, after much chasing, I received this email.... Hi Mr Donovan I’ve spoken with our Business Integration Team and they have advised that now the applications have been centralised, we must ensure that the vehicles are being correctly registered and this is why they are seeking advice with regards to the Construction and Use Regulations. They are chasing the matter with our Policy Section, so I should have more information for you shortly. The question is are CVRTs fully compliant with C & U regs ???
